    摘要: An exemplary polymerizable composition includes the reaction product of (a) diethyleneglycol bischloroformate; (b) allyl alcohol; (c) a cyclic polyol selected from the group consisting of a cycloaliphatic polyol having at least one secondary hydroxyl group, a heterocyclic polyol having primary and/or secondary hydroxyl groups, and mixtures thereof; (d) optionally, ethyleneglycol bischloroformate; and (e) optionally, at least one linear or branched aliphatic polyol having two to six hydroxyl groups. Another exemplary polymerizable composition includes the reaction product of (a) allyl alcohol; (b) a cyclic polyol selected from the group consisting of a cycloaliphatic polyol having at least one secondary hydroxyl group, a heterocyclic polyol having primary and/or secondary hydroxyl groups, and mixtures thereof; (c) ethyleneglycol bischloroformate; and (d) optionally, at least one linear or branched aliphatic polyol having two to six hydroxyl groups is also described. A reaction product, a polymerizate including the polymerizable composition, and an optical article including the polymerizable composition are also provided.

    摘要: Organic glasses and surface coatings are prepared, with short hardening cycles, by submitting to the action of U.V. light a liquid polymerizable composition containing at least one di-(allyl carbonate) or poly-(allyl carbonate) of a diol or polyol, a photoinitiator and a vinyl ester monomer and/or an organic peroxide. The composition can additionally contain small amounts of an organic compound selected from among those compounds which are used in the art in order to stabilize the organic polymers to the degrading action of U.V. light. The composition is preferably heated before being treated with U.V. iight.

    摘要: Polyol(allyl carbonate), e.g., diethylene glycol bis (allyl carbonate), are polymerized in solution, i.e., in an organic solvent, until from 15 to 50 percent of the allylic carbon-carbon linkages are consumed. The solvent is then removed yielding a product that is gel-free, syrupy viscous liquid of unpolymerized monomer and polymer. This liquid polymer can be polymerized to a hard, transparent material with less shrinkage. Also described is the addition of mono- or polyfunctional acrylates to the liquid polymer to produce a polymerizable mixture that can be cured quickly with the addition of a free-radical initiator.
