The purpose of the present invention is to provide a copolymer allowing for an antifouling coating composition used for the formation of an environment-friendly antifouling coating film, which can maintain stable coating film solubility and antifouling performance for a long time in seawater and is unlikely to be subject to coating film defects such as a crack during long-term usage in seawater. The present invention provides a copolymer for an antifouling coating composition obtainable by copolymerizing (a) 10 to 25% by mass of a triorganosilyl group-containing monomer represented by a general formula (I), (b) 2 to 10 % by mass of one or more metal-containing polymerizable monomers represented by represented by a general formula (II) or (III), and (c) 65 to 88 % by mass of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer other than the monomers (a) and (b).

A composition that includes a blend of a fluoropolymer and an ultraviolet light-absorbing oligomer. The oligomer has a first divalent unit having a pendent ultraviolet absorbing group and a second divalent unit represented by formula (I): At least one of the following limitations is also met: the ultraviolet light-absorbing oligomer further comprises a third divalent unit comprising a pendent 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidinyl group, or the composition further comprises a second oligomer comprising a third divalent unit comprising a pendent 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidinyl group at least one of the second divalent units. Articles including the composition are disclosed. The composition can be an extruded film. A method of making such an extruded film is also disclosed.

An organic-inorganic composite of the present invention includes metal oxide particles and an organic polymer compound including a monomer containing organic ligands and a vinyl-based monomer having organic ligands which are bonded to a polymer chain through covalent bonds and the organic polymer compound is bonded to the metal oxide particles by the organic ligands forming a complex with metal atoms on the surface of the metal oxide particles. According to the organic-inorganic composite, the metal oxide particles and the organic polymer compound containing the organic ligands can be chemically bonded, therefore, light emission characteristics such as light emission intensity or stabilization of light emission wavelength can be improved, and transparency and mechanical characteristics such as thermal stability or hardness can also be improved.
