A hot-melt pressure-sensitive adhesive composition according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a styrene-based elastomer, an olefin-based elastomer, and a tackifier. The hot-melt pressure-sensitive adhesive composition includes 2 wt% to 80 wt% of the styrene-based elastomer, 2 wt% to 50 wt% of the olefin-based elastomer, and 2 wt% to 40 wt% of the tackifier.

The viscoelastic article is an article having a multilayer structure including a polymer layer, and a monomer-absorptive layer capable of absorbing at least one of monomer component(s) constituting the polymer, in which the polymer layer is a polymer layer containing an elastomer unevenly distributed and enriched at an interface, or in the vicinity thereof, opposite to the monomer-absorptive layer. The viscoelastic article may further include a cover film on the polymer layer containing the unevenly distributed elastomer on an opposite surface to the monomer-absorptive layer. The vicinity of the interface opposite to the monomer-absorptive layer is preferably a region ranging from the interface opposite to the other interface with the monomer-absorptive layer and occupying, in a thickness direction, 50% or less of the total thickness.

The invention relates to the use of mixed aromatic vinyl-1,3-diene polymers stabilized by a protective colloid and present in the form of aqueous polymer dispersions or polymer powders redispersible in water as adhesives for porous substrates. The polymer dispersions and the polymer powders are obtained by emulsion polymerization of a mixture containing a) between 20 and 80 % by weight of one or more aromatic vinyls, b) between 19.9 and 79.9 % by weight of one or more 1,3-dienes, c) between 0.1 and 15 % by weight of one or more comonomers from the group comprising N-methylolacrylamide, N-methylolmethacrylamide and the N-(alkoxymethyl)-acrylamides and N-(alkoxymethyl)-methacrylamides with a C1-C6-alkyl rest. The sum of the above percentages adds up to 100 % by weight. Emulsion polymerization is carried out in the presence of one or more protective colloids and without emulsifier and possibly followed by drying of the resulting aqueous polymer dispersion.

This invention presents a series of synthetic based cold seal adhesives which are capable of forming a strong bonds at room temperature, yet which may be reeled up without blocking and stored for extended periods of time. Such adhesives can be used in place of the natural rubber based cold seal adhesives currently used, and thus, can be employed in any packaging application where cold seal properties are desirable.
