Abstract: A method is provided for forming a fire resistant cellulose product. A fire-retarding solution and a bonding agent are combined with refined cellulose fibers to form a fiber mixture, and the fire-retarding solution and bonding agent are substantially uniformly distributed with respect to the cellulose fibers within the fiber mixture. The fiber mixture is exposed to an actuating element, wherein the actuating element is configured to actuate the bonding agent so as to facilitate cohesion of the cellulose fibers and form the fiber mixture into a fiber board member, the fiber board member having opposing major surfaces. A cellulose sheet member is engaged with each major surface of the fiber board member, such that each cellulose sheet member substantially covers the respective major surface. An associated apparatus is also provided.

Abstract: A composite structure including at least one paper web layer bonded to at least one nonwoven web layer by a hydroentanglement process. The paper web layer is made of natural fibers processed to have a specified kappa number depending on desired smoothness and hydrophilicity of the composite structure. In an exemplary embodiment, the paper web layer is made of a structured paper web, and the structure of the paper web is imparted to the nonwoven web layer by the hydroentanglement process. In an exemplary embodiment, the composite structure is a wipe product, comprised of a two or three layer structure, with at least one natural fiber layer. Higher machine speeds to produce a two-layer composite web comprised of one natural fiber web is achieved using a protective layer during the hydro-entangling process.

Abstract: An enhanced, co-formed fibrous web structure is disclosed. The web structure may have a co-formed core layer sandwiched between two scrim layers. The core layer may be formed of a blend of cellulose pulp fibers and melt spun filaments. The scrim layers may be formed of melt spun filaments. Filaments of one or both of the scrim layers, and optionally the core layer, may also be meltblown filaments. The core layer may include consolidated masses of cellulose pulp fibers to, for example, enhance texture and cleaning efficacy of a wet wipe made from the structure. The material forming the consolidated masses may be selected and/or processed so as to cause the masses to have reduced visual discernibility relative the surrounding areas of the structure, when the fibrous web structure is wetted. A method for forming the structure, including formation and inclusion of the consolidated masses, is also disclosed.
