    摘要: Disclosed is a packing seal for the piston of a reciprocating engine. Said packing seal can be inserted into a circumferential groove of the piston and is provided with three segment rings (10, 20, 30) that adjoin each other in an axial direction, i.e. a second (lower) segment ring (10), a first (top) segment ring (20) thereabove, and a conical pressure securing ring (30) above the first segment ring (20). The second (lower) segment ring (10) is characterized in that the ends of the seal segments (11) and the lock parts (12) which adjoin each other in the peripheral direction radially engage behind one another in a hook-like manner, the seal segments (11) being provided with an inward-pointing hook (13) and the lock parts (12) being equipped with an outward-pointing hook (14). Furthermore, the contact lines (16) of the adjoining segments (11, 12) lying in the (engaging) contact areas (15) extend radially in the direction of the central axis of the ring in such a way that the directions in which the partial forces of the applied individual segment forces, which are compensated perpendicular to the contact line (16), are effective are oriented in the opposite direction, thus decreasing the pressure applied to the cylinder wall as a whole by the seal segment (11) and therefore substantially reducing wear.

To this end, grooves (14, 15) are formed in an inner circumferential surface (16) of a compression ring (11) in such a manner that centers of those grooves are positioned above a transverse center of the ring. Since the necessity of inner cutting is obviated, it is possible to enlarge the cross-sectional area of a projecting portion (12).
