A method and an apparatus for exposing multi-pages original images or several separate text and/or picture portions onto a light sensitive material like an offset plate or an intaglio plate (6) by means of a laser exposure process, which apparatus comprises a cassette (1) for a light sensitive material (6), a laser unit (3) for exposing said light sensitive material, a discharge conveyor (4) for the ready exposed light sensitive material, and an exposure table (5) which is movable between the plate cassette (1) and the discharge conveyor (4) and under the laser unit (3), and which is formed with means for holding the light sensitive material (6) in a predetermined position thereon, and in which apparatus the laser unit (3) is arranged for taking two different positions, namely a raised position in which the exposure table (5) with the plate (6) can be moved freely under the laser unit (3), and a lowered position, in which the laser unit (3) is being pressed into locking engagement with the plate (6) on the exposure table (5) for making it impossible for the plate (6) and the laser unit (3) to move in relation to each other.

A scanning light contact duplicating apparatus 10 is described which includes an exposure frame 28 having a front and rear edge between which extends a backing plate 41 that is used for supporting an original sheet 56 such as a negative transparency to be copied, together with a photosensitive sheet 54 in contact with it. A transparent cover 42 is connected to the exposure frame 28. Provision is also made for pressing the transparent cover 42 toward the backing plate 41 to force the original sheet 56 (negative) into close contact with the copy sheet (photosensitive sheet 54). An elongated light 138, usually a gas or vapor lamp, is positioned parallel to the front edge of the exposure frame 28. The light 138 is supported for rectilinear movement toward the rear of the exposure frame 28 and parallel to the plane of the exposure frame 28. A collimator 146 is preferably provided between the light 138 and the exposure frame 28. The collimator 146 has a honeycomb array of parallel open-ended cells, each of the cells having walls perpendicular to the exposure frame 28.

The sets of layers have locating holes which can be positioned over one another, into which locating pins (26) can be inserted and withdrawn, said pins being arranged on reciprocating devices (MZ) between the input gap and the exposure space (B). One of the drive rolls (15) forming the input gap is designed so as to be removable from the set of layers; the other drive roll (15) is located in a fixed position.
