    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To purify at a high efficiency HC, CO, MOx and NH3 components in exhaust. SOLUTION: In an exhaust path 2 of an engine 1 operated almost at the theoretical air fuel ratio, a ternary catalyst 3, a muffler 5 and a secondary air feeder 9 are arranged. On the downstream side of them, an ammonia decomposition catalyst 7 for purifying NH3 in exhaust in the specified temperature area of an oxidizing atmosphere, for converting NH3 in exhaust to NOx at temperature higher than that in the specified temperature area, and for passing NH3 in exhaust through it at temperature lower than that in the specified temperature range is arranged. HC, CO and NOx components in exhaust from the engine are purified by the ternary catalyst, and by passing the exhaust containing NH3 which a part of NOx is converted into form through a muffler, it is cooled to within the specified temperature range, and also it flows in the ammonia decomposition catalyst with air being fed by the secondary air feeder to make the oxidizing atmosphere prevail. In this way, NH3 in exhaust is purified by the ammonia decomposition catalyst.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To prevent NOx of non purification from discharging at the time of regenerating operation of 'NOx absorbent by inhibiting discharge of NOx from NOx absorbent by a regenerating means and reducing purifying operation when the temperature of NOx absorbent is higher than a prescribed temperature which is set beforehand. CONSTITUTION: NOx in exhaust gas is absorbed by NOx absorbent 18 which is arranged in an internal combustion engine exhaust passage 17 when the air fuel ratio of exhaust gas which flows in is in a lean condition, and NOx is discharged by the absorbent 18 when the level of oxygen concentration in exhaust gas is reduced. The temperature of the absorbent 18 is detected by a temperature detecting means. An exhaust air fuel ratio is made in a rich condition by a regenerating means, and thereby NOx which is absorbed from the absorbent 18 is discharged, and also discharged NOx is reduced and purified. In a control circuit 30, when the temperature of the absorbent 18 is higher than a prescribed temperature which is set beforehand, discharge of NOx from the absorbent 18 by the regenerating means and reducing purifying operation are inhibited. Regenerating operation of the absorbent 18 by the regenerating means is carried out under a condition of a prescribed temperature and less at all times.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To realize an exhaust emission control device by which NOx in exhaust can be purified at high efficiency, and which is simple in its structure. CONSTITUTION: Two branch passages 3a, 3b and NOx absorbents 7a, 7b are provided in the exhaust passage 3 of an internal combustion engine 1 which is operated at a lean air-fuel ratio, and also a reducing agent supplying device 12 which mutually connects the branch passages 3a, 3b on the lower stream side of the NOx absorbents 7a, 7b by a communicating passage 4, and injects a reducing agent into the communicating passage 4, is provided therein. An exhaust switching valve 5, and cutoff valves 8a, 8b which are opened/closed by operatively associating, ports 6a, 6b to communicate the upper stream side of the NOx absorbents 7a, 7b of respective branch passages 3a, 3b with an exhaust outlet passage 9, with the exhaust switching valve 5, are provided in the branch part of the branch passages 3a, 3b of the exhaust passage 3. The exhaust switching valve 5 and two cutoff valves 8a, 8b are operatively associated with each other and are switched to each other, so that such order that exhaust is passed through the NOx absorbents 7a, 7b is periodically reversed, and at the same time, the reducing agent is supplied from the reducing agent supplying device 12 into the communicating passage 4.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To accurately calculate an angle of rotation from a reference signal by a method wherein the angle of rotation of a rotary body up to the next reference signal output period is estimated on the basis of a function whose parameter is the time interval between mutual reference signals showing the angle-of-rotation reference position of the rotary body. CONSTITUTION:A reference position detection means M1 detects the angle-of- rotation reference position of a rotary body to output a reference signal. The time interval between detected mutual reference signals is measured by a measuring means M2 and, on the basis of a function whose parameter is a plurality of the time intervals, the angle of rotation of the rotary body up to the output period when the reference position detection means M1 outputs a reference signal next is estimated by an estimation means M3. A clocking means M4 measures a time and the angle of rotation of the rotary body is calculated on the basis of the clocking result and the estimation result of the estimation means M3 by an operation means M5. By this method, even when the rotary state of the rotary body is varied, the angle of rotation of the rotary body can be accurately calculated from the reference signal corresponding to the angle-of-rotation reference position.
