Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production process for various metal sulfides each used as a hydrogenation catalyst having capability of effecting hydrogenation/ring-opening of an aromatic ring and also to provide a hydrogenation catalyst consisting of such a metal sulfide. SOLUTION: This production process for tungsten - chromium - zinc multiple sulfide comprises: adding an ammonium thiotangustate aqueous solution to zinc hydroxychromate hydrate in an amount sufficient to provide a W/(Zn+Cr) atomic ratio of 0.003-0.05; mixing and agitating them, to evaporate water in the resulting mixture and to obtain a solid material; and then, subjecting the solid material to reductive decomposition. The production process for this nickel - tungsten - chromium - zinc multiple sulfide hydrogenation catalyst comprises: adding an ammonium thiotangustate aqueous solution to zinc hydroxychromate hydrate in an amount sufficient to provide a W/(Zn+Cr) atomic ratio of 0.003-0.05 to obtain a mixture; further adding a nickel salt aqueous solution to the mixture in an amount sufficient to provide an Ni/W atomic ratio of

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use a catalyst even for desulfurization of a fluid containing a minute amt. of polycyclic sulfur compds. by heating and sulfurizing a catalyst preliminarily containing a sulfurizing agent in the pores of its surface in a hydrogen gas atmosphere in such a manner that the system is heated stepwise to the temp. at which hydrogen sulfide is produced. SOLUTION: At least one kind of sulfurizing agent is dissolved in a proper solvent such as CS2 and acetone, to which a catalyst to be presulfurized is added and stirred. The mixture is heated to remove the solvent and to impregnate the catalyst with the sulfurizing agent. Then the catalyst impregnated with the sulfurizing agent is put in a presulfurizing device such as an autoclave or a direct hydrogenation device, heated and presulfurized under pressure while introducing a hydrogen gas. In this sulfurizing process, the system is heated stepwise to the temp. at which hydrogen sulfide is produced. When a sulfur compd. expressed by the general formula of R-Sn-R' is used as the sulfurizing agent, the system is heated. for example, up to 190 deg.C for presulfurization at which the sulfurizing agent to be used reacts with hydrogen to produce hydrogen sulfide.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a preparatory sulfurization method for a hydrogenation catalyst capable of homogenizing catalyst granules and elemental or sulfur in the powder form or suspension. SOLUTION: The method refers to a preparatory sulfurization method carried out of place porous granules of a hydrocarbon hydrogenation conversion catalyst including at least one metal or a metallic oxide. Catalyst granules are made to contact with a preparatory sulurization agent including elemental sulfur and at least one organic liquid. The method comprises preparing a substantially homogenous preparatory sulfidization agent in liquid form an impregnation of the catalyst granules with the liquid; consequently the elemental sulfur is incorporated substantially into the pores of the catalyst.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain comparably small catalytically active granules which are not easily destroyed or crushed and have excellent selectivity of the isomerization reaction of waxes. CONSTITUTION: A catalyst comprises a thin outer shell of catalytically active material bonded onto an inner core of catalytically inert material. The catalyst can be produced by coating the core of catalytically inert material, such as alpha alumina, with a thin layer of a finely divided catalytically active material suspended in colloidal boehmite/pseudo boehmite, calcining to convert the boehmite/pseudo boehmite into gamma alumina and bonding it to the inert core. Catalysts produced by this method containing an outer shell of platinum on fluorided gamma alumina in an inert core of alpha alumina are useful for isomerization catalysts.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide an economical catalyst having durability and selectively reducing carbon dioxide to carbon monoxide without being poisoned by a sulfur compound for the sake of fixing a large amount of carbon dioxide causing global warming. CONSTITUTION:A catalyst for reducing carbon dioxide is characterized by that tungsten sulfide is supported on a carrier such as alumina or silica and produced by a method wherein a carrier is added to an ammonium tetrathiotungstate and the impregnated carrier is dried to be decomposed under heating in a hydrogen or inert gas stream or heated in air or in an oxygen stream, and subsequently heated in a hydrogen sulfide stream or a mixed stream of hydrogen sulfide and hydrogen or tungsten trisulfide supported on a carrier is decomposed under heating in a hydrogen or inert gas stream. By the use of this catalyst, carbon dioxide is reacted with hydrogen to be capable of being selectively and efficiently reduced to carbon monoxide.
