PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a joining device and a joining method, capable of suppressing occurrence of lamination deviation when a pair of sheet-like members is conveyed after being layered.SOLUTION: The joining device includes a pair of cylindrical rotating bodies 210, 220 having holding surfaces 211, 221 that hold each of a pair of sheet-like members 30, the width of the holding surfaces being narrower than the width of the pair of sheet-like members. The joining device has: a conveyance unit 200 that successively layering the pair of sheet-like members while conveying the pair of sheet-like members by turning the pair of cylindrical rotating bodies; and a joining unit (first joining unit 300) that successively joins the portions of the layered pair of sheet-like members that exceed and protrude from the holding surfaces of the cylindrical rotating bodies.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve efficiency in a separator welding operation by reducing cycle time required for welding a pair of separators.SOLUTION: A device 100 for producing a bagged electrode 20 by applying a separator welding device comprises a joining head 301 provided with: joining chips 302 and 303 that join a pair of separators 30 to each other; and a restraining unit 304 that restrains the pair of separators. The joining head is allowed to relatively approach the separators, the separators are restrained by the restraining unit, and then the pair of separators are joined to each other by the joining chips. Meanwhile, the joining head is allowed to relatively separate from the separators, the joining chips are separated from the pair of separators, and then the restraining of the separators W by the restraining unit is disengaged.

SOLUTION: This technique relates to an apparatus and a method for creating a recording medium using at least two platens (16, 18). A first platen (16) is movable against a second platen (18). Each platen includes first and second supporting surfaces on which substrates (12, 14) are disposed. The first and second substrates have a longitudinal inner surface and a longitudinal outer surface. These substrates are centered by a centering apparatus (19) with respect to one or more reference positions. A positioning system (32) makes the longitudinal outer surfaces of the substrates (12, 14) parallel and forms a desired gap between the longitudinal inner surfaces of the substrate (12, 14). PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide optical recording media having a high degree of parallelism between outer opposing surfaces of substrates. SOLUTION: An apparatus and method that produces recording media using at least two platens (16, 18) are provided. A first platen (16) is movable relative to a second platen (18), and each platen has respective first and second support surfaces onto which substrates (12, 14) are placed, the first and second substrates each having inner and outer longitudinal surfaces. A centering device (19) aligns the respective substrates relative to one or more reference positions, and a positioning system (32) provides a degree of parallelism between the outer longitudinal surfaces of each of the substrates (12, 14) and produces a desired gap between the inner longitudinal surfaces of the substrates (12, 14).
