PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a river water utilization flue gas desulfurizing system capable of using the river water as makeup water without the influence of humus contained in the river water, and a method of removing humus.SOLUTION: The river water utilization flue gas desulfurizing system 10 includes: a pre-treatment facility 13 which removes the humus in the river water 11, and generates makeup water 12, and a desulfurizing device 17 which makes the sulfur-content in exhaust gas 15 touch lime-gypsum slurry 16 in the device body 14 to clean. The pre-treatment facility 13 includes: a coagulant mixing tank 22 which adds a coagulant 21 to the river water 11, and removes the humus in the river water 11 by coagulating them; and an activated carbon adsorption treatment device 23 which adsorbs the humus in the river water 11 into an activated carbon to remove them.

The composition can include a disinfecting agent for disinfecting or sanitizing the water and a masking agent for masking or minimizing undesired characteristics of the disinfecting agent, such as taste and odor. The disinfecting agent can be a halogen-based disinfecting agent, such as a chlorine-based disinfecting agent. The masking agent can be a chlorine-compatible masking agent or flavorant, such as a citrus fruit derived flavor. The composition can also include a substrate. The substrate can be a clay, zeolite, water-soluble carrier, water-insoluble carrier, or mixtures thereof. The flavorant can be loaded onto the substrate. The composition can include other components, such as a primary coagulant, a coagulant aid, a bridging flocculant, a polymeric material, an alkali agent, an autocatalytic oxidant, and mixtures thereof.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for regulating a pH of a sample solution, using a micro fluid element, without providing a process for adding and/or removing a solution for regulating the pH. SOLUTION: This method of regulating the pH of the sample solution includes a process for making the solution containing a compound of a standard oxidation-reduction potential lower than that of water flow from a flowing-in port of an anode chamber into the anode chamber, using the micro fluid element provided with an electrolytic element with the anode chamber and a cathode chamber, a process for making the solution containing a compound of a standard oxidation-reduction potential higher than that of water flow from a flowing-in port of the cathode chamber into the cathode chamber, a process for impressing a voltage to electrodes provided in the anode chamber and the cathode chamber to conduct electrolysis, and a process for mixing electrolytes in the anode chamber and the cathode chamber with the same volume, and volumes of the anode chamber and the cathode chamber are regulated at a prescribed ratio according to the target pH of the sample solution obtained by mixing the electrolytes in the anode chamber and the cathode chamber.
