Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform continuity of exhaust gas for HC desorption to an HC adsorbing material layer when starting an engine in an engine warming-up state. SOLUTION: This device is provided with an exhaust system including an HC adsorbing material layer and an exhaust gas purifying catalyst layer having an oxygen holding function. By passing the exhaust gas through the HC adsorbing material layer when starting a cold temperature of the engine, the HC absorbing material layer is made to adsorb HC in the exhaust gas. By passing exhaust gas through the HC adsorbing material layer after warming-up of the engine and the exhaust system, HC adsorbed by the HC adsorbing material layer is desorbed. An HC eliminating operation for the engine exhaust device for a wheel for discharging the desorbed HC by being converted into H2O and CO2 by oxygen held in the exhaust gas purifying catalyst layer is ensured and generation of NOx is suppressed by the exhaust gas purifying catalyst layer when starting the engine after warming-up of the engine.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce shock during the transient period when a load operation state for generation changes into a no-load operation state including idling or motoring in a hybrid vehicle. SOLUTION: With regard to a hybrid power outputting device comprising an engine and a generator connected mechanically, the output torque of the generator is controlled so that it may not change suddenly during the transient period when the load operation state shifts to the no-load operation state. As a means, the minimum revolutions of an internal combustion engine under the load operation state is set to the revolutions by about 200 rpm larger than those under the no-load operation state. This setting makes the revolutions of the engine change smoothly during the period from the load operation state to the no-load operation state. Because the sudden change of torque of the generator under the PI-control based on the revolutions of the engine can be suppressed, the shock to be caused by the sudden change of torque can be reduced.

SOLUTION: In a stop/start control device for engine adapted in a vehicle in which an engine is stopped when a prescribed stop condition is formed and the engine is started when a prescribed starting condition is formed also when a shift position is a traveling position, the shift position of the vehicle is detected and the engine starting condition is changed to a side for making the engine difficult to be started when the shift portion is the traveling position. By this constitution, engine starting speed at the time of the traveling position is rationally distributed to a non-traveling position time side.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To suppress knocking without using any knock sensor and the like and to suppress worsening of fuel consumption. CONSTITUTION:An opening/closing timing of an intake valve is altered by driving a VVT 23 by an oil pressure. An ECU 70 computes a driving area of an engine 1 on the basis of signals of an air flow meter 62, a rotational speed sensor 66, and the like. When the computed result is in a low relation and load area or a low rotation and high load area, the opening/closing timing of the intake valve 8 drives the VVT 23 for spark-advance. On the other hand, when the computed result is in a low rotation and medium load area or in an area of more than medium rotation, the VVT 23 is driven so as to delay the opening/closing timing of the intake valve 8. Therefore, the opening/closing timing of the intake valve 8 is delayed in a low rotation and medium load driving area, in which knocking is likely to happen, so that an intake air, which tends to escape after being introduced into a combustion chamber 4 once, is increased, and consequently, the intake air amount is reduced and an effective compression ratio is reduced.

SOLUTION: An effective output of the capacitor for a cranking motor is the predetermined output threshold value showing the excellent capacity condition or more is judged, and when the effective output is more than the predetermined output threshold value, cranking is performed without increasing the intake air compression ratio independently of the engine temperature.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an engine stall without increasing an engine rotational speed to any higher level than required. SOLUTION: An engine stall is estimated in accordance with stall estimation criteria determined in advance (R1-3), and if the estimated number of times (counter snestp) reaches a determining value CNESTP1, a target rotational speed of an engine netag is raised by only a compensation quantity neup so that the engine stall is not easily caused when the engine is started afterward (R1-7). On the other hand, if a prescribed restoring condition is satisfied (decision of R1-8 is YES), the compensated target rotational speed of the engine netag is returned back to the original by the compensation quantities neup (R1-9).

SOLUTION: In a case where rotating speed Nm of a motor 14 for driving an auxiliary machine is higher than prescribed rotating speed N1, inversion phase current is inputted to the motor 14, and rotating operation of the motor 14 is braked. When the rotating speed Nm of the motor 14 attains the prescribed rotating speed N1 and less, a solenoid clutch 15 is coupled, the rotating speed of the engine 10 is increased to rotating speed of a starting time by the motor 14, fuel is supplied, spark ignition is executed, the engine 10 is restarted, and then, the operation of the engine 10 is restarted.
