    摘要: A paper separation mechanism that requires no complicated design or manufacturing and prevents feeding of a plurality of sheets of paper simultaneously to assure sheet-by-sheet feeding of paper, and a paper feed apparatus using such a paper separation mechanism. In the paper feed apparatus, paper is fed sheet by sheet by cooperation of a paper feed roller and the paper separation mechanism which is abutted by the lower end of the paper stacked in an inclined state. The paper separation mechanism is provided with a plurality of projections which are abutted by the lower end of the paper and a plurality of arm portions holding the projections, respectively. Since each projection is not affected by the neighboring projection, load imposed by the paper on the each projection can be controlled independently by the corresponding arm portion.

    SOLUTION: An auxiliary support plate 19 is connected to the central part of the sheet P in the width direction on the lower end side of a placing plate 12 via a leaf spring 48 so as to move back and tilt the lower end from the surface of the placing plate 12. On the surface side of the auxiliary support plate 19, a paper feeding roller 21 is turnably supported by an arm 24 turnable about a transmission shaft 20 lying on the upstream side of the paper feeding. The auxiliary support plate 19 moves back and tilts with respect to the surface of the placing plate 12 when a rotating force of the paper feeding roller is large against an energizing force of the leaf spring 48. When the sheet P has high stiffness, the lower end side of the auxiliary support plate 19 moves back, and an abutting angle β between the tip edge of the sheet P on the uppermost of the lamination and the surface of a fixing/separating plate 15 changes to an angle acuter than an abutting angle α of the sheet P with low stiffness to allow easy slip and separation.
