Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a distillation fuel compsn. which can decrease the amt. of deposit formed in a fuel system or in a gas exhaust system by incorporating an ashless dispersant preliminarily subjected to phosphorylation and/or boration into a distillation fuel. SOLUTION: A reaction product of at least one phosphorus compd. and/or a boron compd. with at least one ashless dispersant is used as the ashless dispersant preliminarily subjected to phosphorylation and/or boration. Any inorg. or org. phosphorus compd. which can cause this reaction can be used. An inorg. acid or oxide of phosphorus, a full or partial ester of an acid of phosphorus, etc.. can be used, phosphonic acid (H3 PO3 ) being pref. Any inorg. or org. boron compd. which can cause the above reaction can also be used, examples being boron oxide, boron trichloride, boric acid, and boric esters. A dispersant known as a lubricant additive can be suitably used as the ashless dispersant.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel-additive composition used for hydrocarbon fuels and bringing about excellent deposition-inhibiting performance in low concentrations which have not been recognized to be effective for the optimal deposition inhibition in this technology field. SOLUTION: This fuel-additive composition is prepared by adding (a) an aliphatic hydrocarbyl-substituted amine which is soluble in fuels and has at least one basic nitrogen atom and whose hydrocarbyl group has a number- average mol.wt. of about 700-3,000, e.g. 60 ppm of polyisobutenyl (mol.wt.: 1,300) ethylene diamine, and (b) a hydrocarbyl terminal group-having poly(oxyalkylene) polyol whose oxyalkylene groups are each a 2-5C oxyalkylene and whose hydrocarbyl groups are each a 1-30C hydrocarbyl group and have an average mol.wt. of about 500-5,000, e.g. 40 ppm of dodecylphenylpoly(oxypropylene) monool having an average mol.wt. of about 1,000. The 5,000 mile running test of a BMW vehicle with the fuel composition shows that excellent deposition- inhibiting performance to inlet valves is achieved.
