Abstract: PURPOSE:To form the uniform mixed gas in a combustion chamber in the high load operation by jetting fuel along the swirl center axis line of a scavenge stream which swirls, forming a loop, from a fuel injection valve. CONSTITUTION:A fuel injection valve 14 is arranged on the inner wall surface of a cylinder on a center axis line X, and fuel is jetted from the fuel injection valve 14 towards the center part of a combustion chamber 4 along the center axis line X, when a piston 2 is nearly at a bottom dead center. Therefore, the jetted fuel mists is enclosed by a scavenge stream S, and the jetted fuel mists are attracted by the scavenge stream S and swirled together with the scavenge stream S. When the jetted fuel mists swirl, the evaporated fuel and the fuel particles having a small diameter are collected around the center axis line X, and the fuel particles having a large diameter are spread to the periphery by the centrifugal force. Therefore, the uniform mixed gas is formed in the combustion chamber 4.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To increase the flowing quantity of new air or the like supplied to a combustion chamber and improve an output, by setting the internal diameter of each recessed groove formed at the inner wall surface of a cylinder head, at a size whereby new air or the like does not circulate through an opening between the recessed groove and each air sucking valve or the like located inside this. CONSTITUTION:A cylinder head 3 has a plurality of inner wall surface portions 3a, 3b which are respectively flat. And a pair of cylindrical recessed grooves 8 are formed at one inner wall surface portion 3b, and also, respective valve seatings 9 are respectively formed at the insides of respective cylindrical recessed grooves 8' and at the same time, respective air sucking valves 10 are respectively provided. In this instance, the internal diameter of each recessed groove 8 is set at a size whereby new air does not circulate through an opening between the perimeter edge of each umbrella portion of each air sucking valve 10 and the inner perimeter surface of each recessed groove 8, when each umbrella portion is each located within each recessed groove 8. And it is so set that the substantial supply of new air is started when each umbrella portion of each air sucking valve 10 has passed out of each recessed groove 8.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To carry out favorable combustion all over the load zones of an engine by providing two new air ports which extend in parallel on both sides of the center line of a combustion chamber and providing new air valves on both of said new air ports respectively while providing a new air control valve on one of said ports. CONSTITUTION:New air ports 20 and exhaust ports 22 are oppositely provided on a cylinder head 14 and new air valves 24 and exhaust valves 26 are provided to these ports respectively. Also, two new air manifolds 30, 32 are installed on the cylinder head 14, and connected to the new air ports 20 respectively. And, a new air control valve 48 which is opened and closed in accordance with an engine load and an engine speed is provided on the new air manifold 32 on the high load side. In this case, the new air ports 20 consists of two new air ports 20, 20 which extend in parallel on both sides of the center line of a combustion chamber 18 and the flow resistance of the two new air ports 20, 20 are set equally. Thereby, both stratification at the time of low load and crossflow scavenging at the time of high load can be attained.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To increase the quantity of fresh air supply in a heavy loading range to improve engine output by providing a driving mechanism for opening an exhaust valve earlier than an intake valve, and a means for swirling fresh air when the fresh air stored in an exhaust port or the like flows backward into a combustion chamber. CONSTITUTION:When an engine is under heavy load, an intake control valve 16 is opened, and an exhaust control valve 34 is closed, and as each of exhaust valves 31a, 31b opens during the downward stroke of a piston, the exhaust is rapidly discharged. On the other hand, as each of intake valves 21a, 21b opens, fresh air is flowed from each of intake ports 20a, 20b into a combustion chamber 2. At this time, pressure in each of exhaust ports 32a, 32b is temporarily reduced to negative value, and the fresh air is therefore stored partly in each of the exhaust ports 32a, 32b and an exhaust manifold 33. After then, the stored fresh air is flowed backward into the combustion chamber 2, and moreover swirled by an eccentric exhaust port 32b and mask 5 on the side of a cylinder head situated above the combustion chamber 2.
