PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water purifying device capable of reducing the size and efficiently purifying water to be treated.SOLUTION: The water purifying device includes a purifying tank and a purifying section disposed in the purifying tank. The purifying section contains a plurality of plate-shaped photocatalyst members and has a plurality of bent flow channels for circulating water to be treated which is purified in the purifying tank. The plate-shaped photocatalyst member has a plate-shaped light-emitting body the surface of which can emit light, and a photocatalyst layer disposed on at least one surface of the plate-shaped light-emitting body. The photocatalyst layers form the inner walls of the flow channels.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for purifying fine particles, which is excellent in separation efficiency of ionic impurities and with which load on a filtration membrane and quantity of washing water usage are reduced, and with which the content of ionic impurities in the fine particles is significantly reduced, and the fine particles with high dispersibility are easily and efficiently obtained.SOLUTION: In the method for purifying the fine particles, ionic impurities included in the fine particles are separated and removed therefrom, wherein the fine particles are purified with circulated membrane filtration in which an aqueous dispersion of the fine particles with fine particle concentration of 0.1-40 wt.% is membrane-filtrated by a crossflow method, the concentrated aqueous dispersion of the fine particles is obtained by separating and removing the ionic impurities with the filtrated liquid, the concentrated aqueous dispersion of the fine particles is diluted with addition of water in such a way that the fine particle concentration is in the range, and the membrane filtration operation is repeated again by the crossflow method, and the filtration membrane is periodically backwashed.

SOLUTION: The functional material according to the present invention comprises: a substrate; a dense layer comprising at least one species selected from a group consisting of titanium oxide, titanium hydroxide, titanic acid, and a titanate formed on the surface of the substrate; and a fibrous substance comprising at least one species selected from a group consisting of titanium oxide, titanium hydroxide, titanic acid, and a titanate formed on the surface of the above dense layer. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous titanium oxide structure capable of achieving the photocatalytic function excellent in the air cleaning, deodorization, fouling prevention, antibacterial property and the like when used in a photocatalyst; and to provide a method for manufacturing the same.SOLUTION: The porous titanium oxide structure contains titanium oxide, and has a flat vacancy of ≥1.35 in aspect ratio and a spherical vacancy of ≤1.1 in aspect ratio, wherein the average major-axis diameter of the flat vacancy is 300 to 1,000 nm, and the average major-axis diameter of the spherical vacancy is 1 to 100 nm.
