摘要: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently obtain reformed water contg. decreased metallic impurities by effecting blectrolysis while supplying a nomnetallic salt soln. and oxygen- contg. gas to the anode chamber and cathode chamber of an electrolytic cell mounted with an anion exchange membrane. SOLUTION: Since the ion exchange membrane 2 is mounted at the electrolytic cell 1, the degradation in efficiency by mixing of anolyte and catholyte is averted. Then, the reformed water is obtd. with high efficiency if the electrolysis is effected while the soln. contg. the nonmetallic salt, for example, ammonium chloride is supplied to the anode chamber of such electrolytic cell 1 and the oxygen-contg. gas is supplied to the cathode chamber. Namely, the acidic water which contains gaseous oxygen (ozone) and hypochlorous acid ions, etc., and does not contain other impurities is obtd. in the cathode chamber. The acidic water has oxidation reduction potential of >=1000mN and satisfies pH$3 and is adequate for washing of electronic parts. The alkaline water contg. hydrogen peroxide is formed in the cathode chamber. Since the impurities do not exist in this water either, the acidic water is usable for washing water.

摘要: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing an aq. hydrogen peroxide soln. which does not contain a high-concn. alkali with high current efficiency. SOLUTION: An electrolysis is effected while gaseous hydrogen is supplied into the anode chamber of an electrolytic cell 1 segmented by a diaphragm 2 to an anode chamber 3 and an ion exchange membrane chamber 4 and an oxygen-contg. gas and aq. rare alkaline soln. into the cathod chamber. Since an anode reaction is a hydrogen generating reaction, the hydrogen peroxide formed in the cathode chamber hardly comes into contact with the anode even if the hydrogen peroxide permeates the anode chamber. The reoxidation of the hydrogen peroxide is thus prevented and the hydrogen ions formed in the anode chamber permeates the cathode chamber and neutralizes the excessively existing alkali.

摘要: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the lowering of current efficiency in the method for producing an aq. alkaline soln. of hydrogen peroxide by supplying an aq. alkaline soln. and an oxygen-contg. gas to the cathode as a porous gas diffusing electrode to electrolyze oxygen by using an oxygen-contg. gas previously freed from carbon dioxide. SOLUTION: The air freed from carbon dioxide and the PSA oxygen freed from carbon dioxide are used as an oxygen-contg. gas freed from carbon dioxide. When the air contg. carbon dioxide is used as the oxygen source, the carbon dioxide contained in the air in a small-amt. is accumulated in the cathode, and the current efficiency is gradually decreased during the continuous operation. When the air freed from carbon dioxide is used, the same current efficiency as that when pure gaseous oxygen is used is attained. Since the ordinary air is used, the running cost is lowered. The PSA oxygen freed from carbon dioxide and nitrogen by a molecular sieve effect and having 95% purity is optimally used as the gas source.

摘要: PURPOSE: To provide a method for producing hydrogen peroxide at a high current efficiency continuously for a long time by preventing the whitening of a cation exchange membrane, which is caused by the deposition of a calcium cumpound, to enable the long term continuous operation at high current efficiency and activating a cathode composed of a gas diffusion electrode consisting essentially of carbon under lowering in current efficiency, which is resulted from electrolysis, without taking the cathode out of the cathode chamber. CONSTITUTION: Hydrogen peroxide containing a chelating agent in an anolyte is produced by separating the cathode chamber from an anode chamber with the cation exchange membrane, alternately repeating the reduction of oxygen in an alkali aq. solution and the activation of the cathode of the gas diffusion electrode consisting essentially of carbon degraded in activity in the cathode, removing an electrolyte in the cathode chamber and bringing the gas diffusion electrode degraded in activity into contact with a gas introduced into the cathode chamber to execute activation.

摘要: PURPOSE:To provide an electrolytic ozonizer capable of efficiently producing concd. high-purity ozone at a low current density and with a small consumption of power which has not been attained by the conventional electroytic ozonizer using a gas electrode. CONSTITUTION:A gas electrode having hydrophilicity and hydrophobicity and in which a catalyst is concentrated on the ion-exchange membrane side is used as the cathode of an electrode structure in which a cathode, an ion-exchange membrane and an anode are arranged close to one another, and an oxygen- contg. gas is supplied to the cathode side to conduct electrolysis. Since the cathode has hydrophilicity and hydrophobicity, the water molecule permeated from the anode side along with a proton is easily taken out, the cathode catalyst functions sufficiently, electrolysis is carried out with a lower voltage at a high current density, the hydrogen generated on the cathode immediately reacts with the supplied oxygen without liberating gaseous hydrogen, explosion is prevented, and the purity of gaseous ozone is enhanced.
