    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotation control unit and a chopper spectrograph for making speed-up and higher precision of rotational speed and achieving synchronized operation with an external device.
    SOLUTION: The chopper spectrograph 1 for monochromating pulsed neutron beams generated by a neutron source includes: a Fermi body 2; a magnetic levitation control circuit 3; an inverter 4; and a motor control circuit 5. The motor control circuit 5 outputs a frequency command value according to the target rotational speed of a rotor 11 to the inverter 4 and at the same time performs speed control for controlling the rotational speed of an induction motor 12, based on the rotational speed of the rotor 11 detected by an optical rotation sensor 14, and performs phase control for controlling the phase of the induction motor 12, based on a synchronization signal input externally and the rotation position of the rotor 11 detected by the optical rotation sensor 14.
