Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonhuman animal useful as an experimental model for elucidating the molecular mechanism of DNA replication and a cell cycle to analyze the in-vivo action of an origin recognition complex (ORC). SOLUTION: The nonhuman animal has a genome in which a gene trap vector ROSANβ-geo is inserted to one site of an intron of the ORC4 gene represented by a specific base sequence. The ORC4-mutated nonhuman animal can carry out the DNA replication within several days after fertilization because the ORC4 protein derived from the mother is present in a fertilized egg, and, as a result, can cause cell division. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hearing sense threshold level estimation apparatus capable of substantially reducing the time required for ABR examination with a high degree of accuracy being maintained, confirmation of waveform disappearance being not necessarily needed.SOLUTION: A hearing sense threshold level estimation apparatus comprises: a noise removal unit for extracting and removing the noise components contained in the waveform data representing potential waveforms obtained from a subject with sound stimulation applied thereon; and a threshold level determination unit for determining an estimation value for the hearing sense threshold level on the basis of the presence or absence of amplitude of the V wave component in the noise-removed waveform data from which noise components have been removed by the noise removal unit. The threshold level determination unit determines, from the amplitude value of the V wave component, the specified quadratic polynomial approximate expression indicating the hearing sense threshold level characteristic for a stimulation sound pressure, with respect to the noise-removed waveform data. The threshold level determination unit further determines a linear approximate expression indicating an area approximatable by the linear approximate expression among the hearing sense threshold level curves by the quadratic polynomial approximate expression, and estimates the hearing sense threshold level on the basis of the linear approximate expression.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power-generation rod capable of obtaining stable power.SOLUTION: A power-generation rod 1000 includes: a shaft part 10; and a power generation part 100 externally mounted on the shaft part 10. The power generation part 100 includes: at least one magneto-striction rod 102a constituted of a magneto-striction material: a coil 103a which is wound around the magneto-striction 102a rod and generates current by change in magnetic flux of the magneto-striction rod 102a; and yokes 101a and 101b which support both ends of the magneto-striction rod 102a constituted of a magnetic substance. Power is generated by vibration of high frequency generated by impact given to the tip of the shaft part 10.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for screening a candidate substance to prevent and/or treat a disease or a symptom associated with vascular endothelial barrier dysfunction by elucidating the action and action mechanism of S1Pin anaphylaxis.SOLUTION: The action mechanism of S1Pin anaphylaxis has been elucidated and a finding has been obtained that is totally different from the conventional knowledge. The finding is that: S1Pinhibits the stimulation for the production of eNOS and NO in EC in anaphylaxis through Akt inhibition; such action of S1Pprevents vascular endothelial barrier dysfunction to significantly reduce the abnormalities caused by anaphylaxis; and a nonhuman knockout animal lacking S1Pgenes shows acute exacerbation of anaphylaxis.
