摘要: PURPOSE: To reduce the leakage of a control signal to an information signal by detecting the control signal for automatic focusing and automatic tracking by means of a first photodetector and detecting the information signal recorded in an information carrier. CONSTITUTION: A reflected light beam from a recording surface is made incident on an optical system 7 through an objective lens 5 and a polarizing beam splitter 4. The optical system 7 diffracts a proper light quantity among the reflected light beam, introduces it to a photodetector 9 and detects a tracking error signal and focusing error signal. The rest of the reflected beam is transmitted though the optical element 7 and reaches another photodetector 30 through a detector 28 and a condenser lens 29. Consequently, the mutual leakage among the tracking error signal, the focusing error signal and the information signal is reduced. In this case, by composing a photodetector for detecting the tracking error signal and the focusing error signal and a photodetector for detecting the information signal independently, the arithmetic processing of the detected signal is facilitated.

摘要: PURPOSE:To provide a small sized, thin optical head device obtaining diffracted light beams through a diffraction grating and detecting them with a photodetector by providing a lambda/4 plate between the diffraction grating and an information recording surface and making a reflecting optical flux from the information recording surface an S polarization. CONSTITUTION:A beam outgoing from a semiconductor laser 11 becomes parallel rays of light by a collimate lens 12 to be incident on a light splitter 13. The light splitter 13 consists of two sheets of parallel plates 14, 16 and the diffraction grating 15 held between them. The diffraction grating 15 is formed so that the diffraction efficiency becomes nearly 100% for the S polarization and nearly 0% for a P polarization. Since the beam from the semiconductor laser 11 is set to the P polarization for the light splitter 13, an incident beam hardly is diffracted to be incident on the lambda/4 plate 17. Thereafter, the incident beam becomes a circular polarization, and is converged on the information recording surface 20 by an objective lens 18. The reflecting optical flux transmits through the lambda/4 plate 17 to become the S polarization in the direction orthogonally intersecting with the incident time. The reflecting optical flux becomes the diffracted light beams by the diffraction grating 15, and are made incident on the photodetector 23 while repeating total reflection to be detected.

摘要: PURPOSE:To made the device small in size and thin by making a reflected light beam, converted to an S-polarizing beam by a lambda/4 plate on the optical path, incident on a diffraction grating provided so as to be perpendicular to a light beam of P polarization from a light source and to a reflected light beam from an information recording surface and making the reflected beam diffract. CONSTITUTION:A collimator lens 12 makes a light beam transmitted from a semiconductor laser 11, set as P-polarization to a beam splitter 13, a parallel light beam and makes it incident on the beam splitter 13 inserting a diffraction grating 15 between parallel plates 14, 16. The incident light beam hardly diffracted by and transmitted through the grating 15, having the diffraction efficiency of about 100% to S-polarization and about 0% to P- polarization, is made circular polarization by means of a lambda/4 plate 17 and transmitted. The beam is converged on the information recording surface 20 of a substrate 19 by means of an objective lens 18, the reflected beam from the surface 20 is made parallel by the lens 18, the light beam 21 converted to S-polarization by the plate 17 as a diffracted light beam 22, is made a diffracted beam by the grating 15 and it is guided through the parallel plate 14. The beam is detected by a photodetector 23, recorded information is reproduced, the laser 11 is driven by means of an information signal, the incident light beam on the surface 20 is modulated and recorded. Consequently, the device is made small and thin.

摘要: PURPOSE:To easily perform the position adjustment of a photodetector by providing the split planes of a light splitter with plural areas which introduce reflected light to different light receiving planes. CONSTITUTION:A luminous flux from a laser beam source 31 is changed into a parallel luminous flux by a collimator lens 32, and made incident on the light splitter 41 in which diffraction gratings are formed in substrates 42, 43 consisting of plane-parallel plates. The luminous flux is transmitted as it is, and is made incident on a lambda/4 plate 34, and is changed into circularly polarized light, and after that, it is converged on an information recording plane 37 via a substrate 36 by an objective lens 35, and the luminous flux reflected on the recording plane 37 is changed into the parallel luminous flux by the objective lens 35, and is made to pass the lambda/4 plate 34 again, then, it is made incident on the light splitter 41 as polarized light oscillating in a direction incrossing orthogonally the direction in which it is made incident. Such reflected light is diffracted or reflected by the diffraction grating 44 in the light splitter 41, and is wave-guided repeating total reflection on the substrate 43, and is made incident on the photodetectors 39, 40. When information is recorded, the laser beam source 31 is driven according to an information signal, and it is recorded on the information recording plane 37, and when it is detected, the recoring plane 37 is irradiated with nonmodulated light, and reflected light modulated according to the information is detected by the photodetectors 39, 40, then, the information can be reproduced.

The luminous fluxes emitted from a light source 19 such as LED are condensed to the light introducing part 21-1 via a condenser lens 20. The luminous fluxes progress in the optical waveguides 23 such as plastic optical fibers and are emitted from the exit parts 22-1 to 22-3. Lens structures, diffusion plate structures or color filters are formed at need in the exit parts 22-1 to 22-3 so that the necessary display patterns are observed from a sufficiently wide observation area.

For example, a luminous flux 1 having the wavelength of lambda0 from the display device 9 is made incident on the 1st beam deflecting member 11 at the angle of theta 1 and reflected and diffracted at the angle of theta 2 so as to become the luminous flux 2. The luminous flux 2 is made incident on the 2nd beam deflecting member 35 at the angle of theta 3 and reflected and diffracted at the angle of theta 4 so as to be guided to an observer 51 direction. Thus, the virtual image 49 of the displayed information displayed on the display device 9 is superposed on image information such as a scenery 101, etc., in front of the 2nd beam deflecting member 35, and then, both information is observed in a good state.

The sensitizer is the dye which is made quaternary in the nitrogen atom in the molecule by binding of the styryl group with the heterocycle. The volume phase type hologram is formed by the long wavelength laser including the helium neon laser in this way and the various performances, such as light resistance, moisture resistance, diffraction efficiency, transparency, and low haze characteristic, are improved.
