摘要: PURPOSE: To manufacture metallic Mg without suspending the operation of an electric furnace by condensing Mg vapor in a condenser provided with a heater and a heat insulator between the inner and outer walls, storing the resulting molten Mg, and suitably discharging it.
CONSTITUTION: Mg vapor is generated from a substance contg. MgO as a starting material in an electric furnace using a slag forming agent and a reducing agent. The Mg vapor enters a condenser through an introducing pipe 6, it is condensed by contact with the inner wall 8 adjusted to a suitable temp. with an internally provided heater 10, and the resulting molten Mg is stored at the bottom of the condenser. The molten Mg is discharged into a casting mold 18 in an airtight casting chamber 3 as required through a discharge outlet 14 and a discharge trough 17. At this time, dross is prevented from flowing into the mold 18 by a control plate 15. The dross is drawn into a dross receiver 21 in an airtight casing chamber 4 through a discharge outlet 19.

CONSTITUTION: 0.001W0.02 Atom% Cu is added to a hydrogen storing material made of a Ti-Fe-Zr-M alloy consisting of, by atom, about 1.0% Ti, about 0.80W12.0% Fe, about 0.02W0.10% Zr and about 0.01W0.10% M (Nb and/or Mo) to obtain a hydrogen storing material which can be simply activated at ordinary temp., stores a large amount of hydrogen, gives a large amount of available hydrogen and has high crushability. 0.02% Cu reduces the amount of hydrogen to be stored, so the Cu content is restricted as mentioned above.

摘要: PURPOSE:To accelerate a ferrite forming reaction and to obtain a starting material with a uniform oxidation degree, by pelletizing a mixture of iron oxide powder with ferromanganese powder and by oxidizing and reasting the pellets at a specified temp. CONSTITUTION:Iron oxide powder is mixed with ferromanganese powder and pelletized. The pellets are oxidized and roasted at >=900 deg.C. Thus, the pellets are not melted, the oxidation of the ferromanganese proceeds rapidly, giving an almost uniform oxidation degree, and the ferrite forming reaction of the resulting manganese oxide with the iron oxide can be attained in a short time.

CONSTITUTION:Calcined dolomite as a Mg source, ferrosilicon as a reducing agent and bauxite as a slag making agent are charged into a hermetically sealed vacuum electric furnace and melted by supplying an electric current to reduce Mg oxide to metallic Mg. Mg vapor is then taken out of the furnace and condensed to obtain metallic Mg. In the above-mentioned Magnetherm process by blowing hydrogen or an inert gas such as argon the molten material in the furnace is agitated to facilitate uniform mixing of the material, thereby raising the reaction rate, enhancing the unit and yield, and reducing the coat.
