PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pyridine derivative useful as a raw material for agricultural chemicals, medicines, polymers, etc. SOLUTION: This pyridine derivative is represented by formula I [X is H, a halogen, a 1-6C alkyl, a 1-6C haloalkyl, a 1-6C alkoxy; (n) is 0-4], e.g. 2-(1- chlorovinyl) pyridine. The compound of formula I is obtained by treating a compound of formula II or its mineral acid salt with a base (e.g. sodium bicarbonate) in an aprotic solvent (e.g. acetonitrile) at 0-150 deg.C. The compound of formula I is especially useful as an intermediate for synthesizing a pyridylpyrrole derivative microbicide used for agriculture and horticulture and described in PCT/JP95/02479.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a pyridylpyrrole compound useful for prevention of every kind of plant disease as a germicide for an agriculture and a horticulture. SOLUTION: This pyridylpyrrole compound is represented by formula I [R is cyano, carbamoyl, formyl, hydroxyiminomethyl, etc.; R is H, an alkylcarbonyloxymethyl, benzoyloxymethyl, alkoxycarbonyl, etc.; X is H, a halogen, an alkyl, an alkoxy, etc.; Y is H, a halogen, an alkyl, an alkoxy, etc.; Z is H, a halogen or an alkyl; (m) is 0 to 5; (n) is 0 to 4], e.g. 2-(3- chlorophenyl)-3-(2-pyridyl)-5-formylpyrrole. The compound of formula I is obtained by reacting phenylglycines of formula II with an acid anhydride of the formula (R 'CO)2 O [R ' is H, a 2-4C alkenyl (substituted by a halogen) or a 2-4C alkynyl] and ethynylpyridines of formula III (Z' is H or a 1-6C alkyl) in the presence of a tri-valent phosphorous compound and a dehydrating agent. The pyridylpyrrole compound is effective for preventing downy mildews of a cucumber and a grape and an epidemic of a potato.

PURPOSE:To obtain a new compound, having remarkable insecticidal characteristics, safely usable and useful as an insecticide effective against especially Aphis gossypii Glover or Nephotettix cincticeps. CONSTITUTION:The compound of formula I [R1 is alkyl or alkenyl; R2 is H, aJky1 or COR3 (R3 is H or alkyl); X is NR4 (R4 is H or alkyl); l is 0 or 1; n is 0-7; Y is CH or N; Q is CN or NO2; Z is alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl or OR5 (R5 is H, alkyl, aryl, etc.), etc.], e.g. N-(4-hydroxybutyl)-N'-methyl-N''- nitroguanidine. This compound of formula I is obtained by reacting a compound of formula II (A is O or S; R13 is lower alkyl) with a compound of the formula R2NH-(CH2)nZ in an organic solvent (e.g. DMF), as necessary, in the presence of a base (e.g. triethylamine) at 0 deg.C to the boiling point temperature of the solvent.

SOLUTION: The method for converting surface physical properties of an organic thin film is characterized, by (A) photoirradiating the organic thin film containing a photosensitive compound, formed on a substrate via an organic solvent or (B) photoirradiating the organic thin film while being heated to 50-250°C, with the photosensitive compound having a protective group which is released by photoirradiation. SOLUTION: The organic thin film forming method has a process of making the solution for forming the organic thin film into contact with the surface of a substrate. The organic thin film forming method is characterized in that the solution for forming the organic thin film is prepared by treating a metal based surfactant having a hydroxy group or a hydrolyzable group in a solvent with at least one kind selected from a metal, a metal oxide, a metal hydroxide, a metal carried on a carrier, a metal salt carried on a carrier, a metal oxide carried on a carrier, a chelated or coordinated metal compound and a metal nano particle, and water.
