PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an ultrasonic transducer to be appropriately driven by monitoring the driving state of the ultrasonic transducer, and enhance safety by detecting fault factors on a route at an early stage.SOLUTION: The reflective power which has been reflected from the ultrasonic transducer and a cable which feeds AC power to the ultrasonic transducer is detected. Whether the AC power for appropriately driving the ultrasonic transducer is fed to the ultrasonic transducer or not is determined on the basis of the reflective power. The AC power which is output from a signal generating unit is controlled on the basis of the determination result. For example, when it is determined that the reflective power is at a threshold value or higher, the output of the AC power from the signal generating unit is suspended by assuming that an unexpected situation has occurred on either one or both of the ultrasonic transducer and the cable.
