PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for treatment of lung cancer and a method for inhibiting growth of a cell. SOLUTION: A double-stranded molecule includes a sense strand and an antisense strand, wherein the sense strand includes a ribonucleotide sequence corresponding to a target sequence, the antisense strand comprises a ribonucleotide sequence which is complementary to the sense strand, and the sense and the antisense strands hybridize to each other to form a double-stranded molecule. Expression of a gene is inhibited by introduction of the double-stranded molecule into a cell which expresses a PKP3, CDCA1, CDCA8, DLX5, URLC11, or NPTX1 gene. The method of treating or preventing lung cancer in a subject includes administering to the subject a composition comprising a small interfering RNA (siRNA) for inhibiting the expression of the PKP3, CDCA1, CDCA8, DLX5, URLC11 or NPTX1 gene. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide immunogenic peptides which are specifically upward controlled with tumor cells of lung cancer tissues, useful for killing the tumor cells, and originated from TTK, URLC10 or KOC1. SOLUTION: There are provided, peptides comprising specific amino acid sequences, as well as peptides comprising the amino acid sequences in which 1, 2, or several amino acids are substituted, deleted, or added, and having cytotoxic T cell inducibility. Medicines for treating or preventing tumors comprise these peptides. The peptides can also be used as vaccines. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting non-small cell lung cancer using differentially expressed genes, and a method for identifying a compound for treating and preventing non-small cell lung cancer.SOLUTION: This invention relates to a method for diagnosing non-small cell lung cancer or factors of developing non-small cell lung cancer in a biological sample derived from a subject. According to the method, it is detected that the subject is affected with the non-small cell lung cancer or that the subject has a risk of developing the non-small cell lung cancer based on the increase or decrease of a level relative to a normal collation level of the genes. The invention further relates to a method for identifying a compound which inhibits the expression or activity of non-small cell lung cancer-related genes including: (1) a step of bringing test cells expressing the non-small cell lung cancer-related genes into contact with a test compound; (2) a step of detecting the level of expression of the non-small cell lung cancer-related genes; and (3) a step of determining a compound suppressing the level of expression relative to the normal collation level as a factor of inhibiting the non-small cell lung cancer-related genes.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for diagnosis of non-small cell lung cancer utilizing KIF11, GHSR1b, NTSR1 and FOXM1 genes. SOLUTION: The method for detecting non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) uses differentially expressed genes KIF11, GHSR1b, NTSR1 and FOXM1. A method for identifying a compound for treatment and prevention of NSCLC, based on the interaction between KOC1 and KIF11, or NMU and GHSR1b or NTSR1, is also provided. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting non-small cell lung cancer using a differentially expressed gene. SOLUTION: The method for diagnosing non-small cell lung cancer or a predisposition to develop the non-small cell lung cancer in a subject includes a step of determining an expression level of a non-small cell lung cancer-associated gene in a biological sample derived from a subject. In the method, an increase or a decrease in the level compared to a normal control level of the gene indicates that the subject suffers from or is at a risk of developing the non-small cell lung cancer.
