The post-processing device includes a timer which detects the time of the binding process time by reverse driving of the driving source, and a control part which has an operation part for inputting at least the number and thickness of bound forms connected to its input side and also has the driving source and a shift movement driving part for the forms connected to its output side. The control part reverses the driving source when abnormality of the driving source is detected during the binding process, and normally rotates the driving source again to retry the binding process when the reversing process is completed normally.
