Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce the occurrence of vibration due to the generation of a heat spot by providing a thermal conductive layer having a coefficient of thermal conductivity larger than that of a heat insulating layer on each heat insulating layer disposed on both sides of a disc metallic main body and making the surface of each thermal conductive layer as a friction surface. CONSTITUTION:A main body 12 of a disc rotor 10 is cast by gray cast iron, and a heat-insulating layer 22 composed of chromium oxide is formed on both side faces of flange portion 16. A thermal conductive layer 24 composed of chrome, carbon and copper is formed on the heat insulating layer 22 by plasma flame spraying and finished by grinding. Accordingly, the frictional heat generated on friction surfaces 26, 28 is intercepted by the heat insulating layer 22, so that as the frictional heat is hardly transmitted to the main body, a temperature rise of the main body 12 is small so as to decrease partial temperature difference depending on the existence/absence of a vent hole 20 and to reduce the occurrence of a heat spot.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration in frictional resistance at a sliding surface, by thermally spraying a wear-resistant and heat-resisting metallic material on the sliding surface of a disk rotor body and by applying reduction treatment to the above body so as to reduce the amount of oxide in the thermally sprayed layer to a specific value or below. CONSTITUTION:A wear-resistant and heat-resisting metallic material is thermally sprayed on the sliding material 2, with which a brake friction pad is to be brought into contact, of a disk rotor body 1 composed of Al alloy, cast iron, etc., so as to form a thermally sprayed layer 3. Further, a coppery or ferrous material is mainly used as the above thermal spraying material, and thermal spraying is carried out by means of a wire gas thermal spraying method, a wire arc thermal spraying method, etc. Subsequently, the above-mentioned disk rotor body is subjected to reduction treatment in a hydrogen air flow in a reducing furnace. By this reduction treatment, the amount of oxide contained generally by >=about 10% in the above thermally sprayed layer 3 is reduced to

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the antifriction property when the material is used in a low temperature area, by impregnating a liquid resin in carbon fibers, heat- treating it at 100 to 400 deg.C to harden the liquid resin to combine the carbon fibers. CONSTITUTION:A squarely crossing composition of bundles of carbon fiber is composed, and after impregnating a resol type phenol resin at about 10 wt% to it, a heat-treatment is given at about 200 deg.C for about 120 min in a heating furnace to harden the phenol resin to combine the carbon fibers. Therefore, since the resin as a binder is never decomposed or degenerated, not only the primary excellent antifriction property when used at a high temperature area, but also the antifriction property when used at a relatively low temperature area can be improved extensively.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the cooling performance, by setting the occupied proportion of pores having a size of 5Xm or less to 70% or more, and retaining and circulating an oil in a porous portion. CONSTITUTION:A wet friction material comprises a paper-like substrate impregnated with a thermosetting resin. The paper-like substrate is prepared in a wet state from a base fiber forming a frame of the substrate, a fibride fiber, an inorganic fiber, an inorganic filler and a friction adjusting agent. The wet friction material has a porosity of 40-75%, and the occupied proportion of pores having a size of 5mum or less is set to 70% or more. Accordingly, an oil is retained and circulated in a porous portion, thereby greatly improving the cooling performance.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the abrasion resistance at high temperature and the frictional coefficient stability and increase the frictional coefficient in the ordinary use by compounding polishing agent into the frictional member which is prepared by jointing carbon fibers by carbon. CONSTITUTION:In order to increase the frictional coefficient of the C/C composite in a frictional member 1, said member is allowed to contain powdery or granular polishing agent 3. The frictional member 1 exerts the polishing action for a frictional opponent because of the polishing agent 3, and the frictional coefficient at low temperature is improved. When this frictional member is to be prepared, he bundle consisting of carbon fiber is impregnated with resin, and said resin is graphitized by heating, and the polishing agent having a high melting point is left without being combusted. The frictional member 1 thus prepared can be used both in the dried and wet types.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled novel composition producible without using asbestos, having high frictional coefficient and exhibiting little fading phenomenon, by using chopped glass fibers and pulped aromatic polyamide fibers as base material, and compounding the material with a specific binder and a powder binder. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition can be produced by compounding (A) 15-40 (vol)% base fibers consisting of 10-30% chopped glass fiber and 5-20% pulped aromatic polyamide fiber (e.g. poly-p-phenylene terephthalamide fiber) with (B) 17-20% phenolic resin binder (preferably unmodified phenolic resin) and (C) 40-68% organic or inorganic powdery binder (e.g. graphite) (the sum of A-C is 100%). A brake lining is produced usually by mixing the above components with each other, preforming the mixture in a pressing mold with pressure at normal temperature, and forming the preformed product in a mold.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce a wet-type frictional material for clutch, usable in oil, by making a paper sheet from an aqueous dispersion containing cellulose and a filler, embossing the surface of the paper sheet with an embossing plate, pressing the sheet to form a layer having different porosity and impregnating and curing a thermosetting resin in the sheet. CONSTITUTION:In the cource of making a paper sheet from an aqueous dispersion 30 containing cellulose 20 and a filler 26, the embossing cylinder 32 is made to contact with the paper sheet 35 to form an embossed surface, and the surface of thesheet 35 is flattened by pressing with press rolls 37a, 37b to form the layer 16, 17 having different porosity. The paper sheet 35 having the layers with different porosity is dried with driers 39, 41, 42, and the obtained paper substrate 48 is cut with a cutter 49 to a prescribed size. The objective frictional material can be produced by impregnating and curing a thermoplastic resin 51 in the sheet after embossing the surface of the paper sheet.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make title rotor excellent in the abrasion resistance and any shortage of friction coefficient attributable to the badness of contact with a friction pad at the initial state of application avoidable by forming a second coating layer softer than a first coating layer, on this first one. CONSTITUTION:In a disk rotor 10, a soft second coating layer 24 is worn out at the initial stage of braking, while copper or the forming material shifts on a friction surface of the rotor 10, and furthermore it shifts on a friction surface of a friction pad, so that a contact area of both surfaces is quickly increased and thus a high friction coefficient is securable. The second coating layer 24 is completely worn out before long, whereby a first coating layer 22 consisting of a wear resisting material and the friction pad are made contact with each other in consequence, but at this time, both friction surfaces between the second coating layer 24 and the friction pad get to fit well each other and badness in their contact is eliminated, so that a stable high friction coefficient is securable even afterward.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a stable pad free from molding dispersion even through the simultaneous molding of two kinds of frictional members, by using the frictional member containing each porous inorganic material and integrally forming the frictional member by allowing the porous inorganic material to be immersed into or attached with lubricating agents. CONSTITUTION:A mixed material is formed by adding and kneading basic material, joining resin, porous inorganic material and other additives by using a kneader. Only porous inorganic material is used in the mixed material for forming a frictional member having a high frictional coefficient. While, in the mixed material for forming a frictional member having a low frictional coefficient, the substance which is integrally formed by immersing porous inorganic material into lubricating agent is used. The mixed material is premolded and a rough molded article is formed. The rough molded article made of the frictional member having different frictional coefficient is fixed at a prescribed position of a metal mold, and thermal shaping, heat treatment and polishing are carried out to integrally form each frictional member. Therefore, the generation of difference and dispersion of the physical properties is prevented, and a pad can be formed integrally.
