    Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce a sliding member made of an Al alloy having excellent seizure resistance and wear resistance by alloying the hydride of a metal on the surface layer of an Al alloy base material by using high-density energy, thereby crystallizing an intermetallic compd. and forming pores. CONSTITUTION:Powder 2 of the hydride of the metal such as Ti or Zr which can form the intermediate compd. with Al is coated and disposed on the surface of the base material consisting of the Al alloy. An arc 4 is then applied onto this powder fixed layer 2 from above by using a TIG torch 3 to melt the powder fixed layer 2 and the surface layer of the Al alloy base material 1 on the lower side thereof. The alloyed layer is thereby formed on the surface layer of the base material. The high-hardness intermetallic compd. is crystallized into the surface layer by this alloying treatment; in addition, the pores which function as oil pools are formed to 2-30% porosity by the gaseous hydrogen which is generated by decomposition of the metal hydride.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the abrasion resistance of a disc rotor by mixing, into a Fe-Cr, C alloy powder, a copper or copper alloy powder and the hard particles of the carbide and/or the oxide of a metal to be dispersed approximately evenly into a thermally sprayed layer. CONSTITUTION:Thermally sprayed layers 2 having abrasion and heat resistance are formed on the sliding surfaces of a disc rotor main body 1 constituting a brake for automobiles or the like. A mixture consisting of a Fe-Cr, C alloy powder and a copper or copper alloy powder, for instance, aluminum bronze powder 35-65% by weight, hard particles powder of the carbide and/or oxide of metal, for instance, Cr2C2, Al2O3, TiC or the like 10-30% by eight is used as the thermally sprayed material and dispersed approximately evenly into the thermally sprayed layers 2. In this manner, the abrasion resistance of a disc rotor can further be improved.

CONSTITUTION:An Mo or Mo containing alloy is arranged as an alloying material on the face 2 of the valve main body 1 or a martensite group heat resistant steel and the alloying material and the base metal surface layer of the lower side thereof are rapidly melted by projecting a high density energy beam from the above thereof. In succession with stopping the projection of the high density energy beam, the heat quickly moves to the base metal side and the melted alloying layer 3 thereof is frozen with its rapid cooling. In this case, the arrangement amount per unit area of the alloying material is made to become 1-15wt% on the Mo of the alloying layer finally obtd. Since the alloying layer thus obtd. becomes in the hardened state, an annealing is performed at the temp. within the range of 300-600 deg.C in succession, the wear resistance is increased and counter part attack is reduced as well.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enlarge the coefficient of friction, to reduce thermal deformation and defective beads, and to improve durability by forming a thermal spraying layer having a thickness of at least 30mum or more and porosity of 2% or less by using spraying powder having the average particle of 20-30mum. CONSTITUTION:A disc rotor body 1 is manufactured by casting by using gray cast iron, and mixed power which is composed of 36wt% Fe, 50wt% Cr, 4wt% C, and 10wt% Mo, and has particle size ranging from 10-50mum (average particle size : 25mum) is plasma-sprayed 0.3mm thick on a sliding surface of the disc rotor body to form a thermal spraying layer 2. Thus, the thermal spraying layer 2 becomes fine and has porosity of 2% or less to restrain a lowering of thermal conductivity. Accordingly, thermal deformation of the disc rotor and the occurrence of cracks can be prevented, the coefficient of friction is enlarged, and the durability can be improved.

The conditions thereof are adjusted in the stage of the above-mentioned alloying so that the average concn. of Ni in the surface coating layer is made 1-80wt%. The cast iron alloy member which has the resistance to formic acid corrosion and is obtd. in the above-mentioned manner prevents extremely effectively the formic acid corrosion when used for the inside surface of the cylinder bore of an engine for pure methanol, etc.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a product having the high wear resistance on the inside surface of the part to be fitted to a shift lever with good workability in a shift fork made of a steel plate by using a low-carbon steel for steel plate stock, enriching locally the carbon content on the inside surface of the above-mentioned fitting part and hardening the inside surface. CONSTITUTION:The steel plate which consists of a steel having =0.35wt% carbon content for the purpose of enriching carbon so that the carbon content of the hardened layer to be finally obtd. attains 0.25-0.45wt% is disposed on the inside surface of the part 4. High-density energy such as laser or plasma arc is irradiated onto the enriching material from above to heat locally and quickly the material, by which the enriching material and the surface layer part of the steel plate beneath said material are melted and alloyed. The molten layer is quickly cooled when the above-mentioned irradiation is stopped in succession thereto. The carbon is thereby enriched and the hardened layer 11 having >=350 Hv hardness is obtd.
