PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrophilic iron oxide nanoparticle having a uniform particle size by synthesizing paramagnetic iron oxide powder having a spherical particle of ≤20 nm having in an organic solvent thereby securing the uniformity of the particle, and converting the particle into the hydrophilic one by chemical surface modification. SOLUTION: The metal oxide nanoparticle contains: a nanoparticle composed of a metal oxide core and a shell composed of the element same as the metal component in the core and formed on the surface of the core; and an organic matter containing an element to be covalently bonded with the metal element in the shell and a hydrophilic functional group-containing organic substance. The present invention relates to water soluble magnetic nanocomposite using an amphiphilic compound. Specifically, the present invention relates to water soluble magnetic nanocomposite which may be not only used as a contrast agent for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), an intelligent contrast agent for diagnosing cancer characterized by binding a tissue-specific binder ingredient, a drug delivery system for simultaneous diagnosis and treatment by polymerizing or enveloping drugs and binding a tissue-specific binder ingredient, but also used for separating a target substance using magnetism, and a process for preparing the same.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite of a medicinal compound (i. e. an active substance) and an inorganic nanoparticle, and a versatile, simple manufacturing method of the inorganic nanoparticle composite. SOLUTION: The inorganic nanoparticle composite has the active substance fixed through physical adsorption onto the surface of the inorganic particle with an average particle size of 1-500 nm. The inorganic nanoparticle composite is manufactured by mixing a solution of the medicinal compound with a dispersion of the inorganic nanoparticle and exposing the mixture to an ultrasonic irradiation.
