    SOLUTION: The equipment for cooling a paper web 14 printed and heated by a hot-air dryer 2 utilizes waste heat of a combustion chamber 10 for evaporative cooling of a refrigerant 52 passed through a cooling device 12 to cool the material web 14. A first rate of the refrigerant 52 is evaporated and a second rate thereof is cooled by taking the heat of evaporation therefrom. This equipment is provided with a steam generator 26 wherein steam is generated by the waste heat of the combustion chamber 10, in part at least, steam-jet vacuum nozzles 34 and 36 which are operated by the steam and whereon a negative pressure acts, and a negative pressure chamber 50 wherein the negative pressure acts on the refrigerant 52 to vaporize it partially at least for cooling.

CONSTITUTION:A stepless speed changer 33 and a cooling unit 36 are fitted to a side surface of the frame 15 of a folding machine 14, and a drag roller 23 of the folding machine 14 is driven to connect to the drive section of a device 36. When a prime mover 2 is rotated, the speed changer 33 is driven, a cooling roller 3 is rotated, and the drag roller 23 of the folding machine 14 is rotated. Therefore, rollers 38, 39 can be reliably coincided in timing with the roller 23, thus by adjusting the speed changer 23 the rotating speed of the rollers 38, 39, 23 can be concurrently adjusted. The printed paper 32, after dried and processed, is cut, folded, and processed by the folding machine 14 through a compensatory roller 13.
