The positioning mechanism 50 has: a guide surface 54a; a driving roller 61; a spur roller 71; a roller support member 80; and a torsion coil spring 84. The roller support member 80 supports rotatably the spur roller 71. The roller support member 80 can be rotated around a protruding portion 51b orthogonal to a shaft line L so as to occupy a first position where an angle θ1 between the guide surface 54a portion in the downstream side of the conveying direction and a shaft line L of the spur roller 71 is sharper than the angle of an intersection between the shaft line L of a shaft portion 74 of the spur roller 71 and the guide surface 54a and a second position where the angle θ1 is closer to a right angle than the angle θ in the first position. The torsion coil spring 84 energizes the roller support member 80 in a direction that the spur roller 71 occupies the first position.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress curling of a recording medium and to prevent retransfer in accompany therewith at low costs while preventing a device from being greatly complex.SOLUTION: A curl device includes a first roller 130 disposed to contact with the image surface side of a recording medium, and second and third rollers 131 and 132 arranged side by side in a recording medium conveying direction to contact with the nonimage surface side of the recording medium. The first, second and third rollers have surfaces where large-diameter and small-diameter parts are repeatedly formed in an axial direction. The first roller is located to be held between the second and third rollers. When seen from a direction orthogonal to the axial direction, the outermost diameters of the second and third rollers are separated. The outermost diameter of the first roller contacts with or intersects the second and third rollers. The large-diameter part of the first roller faces the small-diameter parts of the second and third rollers. The small-diameter part of the first roller faces the large-diameter parts of the second and third rollers, having no contact part.

A transport system for cut sheet media has a first and second cylinder (11,13) to form a nip, a support subsystem to transport edges of cut sheets having at least one image into and out of the nip, and an array of contact points on each cylinder to make contact with the cut sheets without marking the image. A wheel for a print medium transport system has an outer rim (50) having a series of contact points, an inner hub (52) supporting a means to accommodate a drive shaft, and an internal spring (56) connecting the outer rim to the inner hub. A method of transporting cut sheets in a printing system forms a nip between at least one pair of cylinders, each cylinder having an array of contact points, guides a first edge of a cut sheet into the nip, and uses the arrays of contact points to transport the cut sheets through one of either a fusing or drying process.

SOLUTION: The outer diameter of a second driven roller 74 rotating and driven by a second driving roller 56 is larger than that of a first driven roller 72. The tip 2B of a recording sheet 2A floating upward from a first nip point 80 comes into contact with the second driven roller 74 does not directly attack the first driven roller 72. The rotational speed of the second driven roller 74 is higher than that of the first driven roller 72. The second driven roller 74 lightly beats down the tip 2B of the recording sheet 2A in contact with the second driven roller 74, and quickly guides it to the first nip point 80.
