PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeding apparatus and an image forming apparatus having the same capable of driving a motor without causing step-out even if using a cheap PM type stepping motor for a paper feed part. SOLUTION: A digital copier shifts a paper feed motor to a paper feed speed after driving the paper feed motor until an integral pulse number reaches 16 at a self-starting speed when feeding the paper of a first sheet. When feeding the paper on and after a second sheet, when performing lift-up drive after the previous paper feed is finished, the paper feed motor is shifted to the paper feed speed after driving the paper feed motor until the integral pulse number reaches 8 at the self-starting speed. When further performing the paper feed on and after the second sheet, when the lift-up drive is not performed after the previous paper feed is finished, the paper feed motor is shifted to the paper feed speed after being driven at the self-starting speed. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for conveying stacked quires, especially a document which is important in terms of safety, to a binding station.SOLUTION: This device conveys stacked quires (a booklet or content of a book) to binding stations 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 which are arranged along a conveying path 9. Some of the binding stations are started. The device includes a conveying device 8 conveying the stack along the conveying path periodically, and a control device. The conveying device includes a distribution unit 2, and the distribution unit conveys the stack along a conveying path 9.2, transfers the stack to the selected binding station, and receives the stack again to the conveying path after binding. The conveying device further includes a transfer unit 3. The transfer unit transfers the stack from a supply unit 6, which conveys the stack, to the distribution unit. The control device sets the transfer unit to an operation mode which depends on the number and positions of the binding stations in operation and has a speed profile adapted to a certain operation fixedly set to the distribution unit.
