PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface covering material for civil engineering works having the weed removing effect and adequate water permeability/water retaining function and also to beautify the scenery and conserve the environment by using blast furnace slag but without using alkaline stimulator. SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method for the surface covering material stated above, a cement-based solidifying material of 8 to 12 mass portion is added to the mixed member 100 comprising 40 to 90 mass portion of the blast furnace slag heated to 200°C or more and to the grading of no more than 3 mm, and natural aggregate of 10 to 60 mass portion with the grading of no more than 2.5 mm, and it is preferable to use a cement-based solidifying material having an effect of restricting the elution of chromate. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a reduction in early strength and improve workability of concrete using fly ash as an admixture to promote the practical use thereof.SOLUTION: In using fly ash as an admixture for concrete, 10 to 40% (preferably 20 to 30%) of the total volume of coarse aggregate or fine aggregate is substituted with artificial aggregate of clay fired at high temperature such as waste roof tiles. The early strength equivalent to that of ordinary concrete can be obtained with a low water-to-cement ratio (15 to 30%) using less amount of mixing water. In contrast, good workability is obtained with a high water-to-cement ratio (30 to 55%), which results in extremely high fluidity.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a honeycomb molded body for which a non-conforming product of an undried molded body can be recycled as a molding raw material. SOLUTION: This method comprises obtaining a molding blend by mixing a molding raw material including at least a ceramic raw material powder, a binder and water using a mixer, then kneading the molding blend using a continuous extruder and extrusion-molding the kneaded material into a honeycomb-like form as the honeycomb molded body. In addition, the method comprises adding green ware grinds obtained by grinding a green ware of the same composition as the molding blend to a maximum diameter of 50 mm or less to the molding raw material and mixes the molding raw material with the green ware grinds using a mixer.
