Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rail-bond ensuring high durability and reliability for the vibration caused by running of a train.SOLUTION: A rail-bond 1 includes a conductor 2 for electrically connecting rails adjoining separately, a terminal 3 being connected electrically with the conductor 2 and welded to the side face of the rail, and a termination 4 where the conductor 2 is connected with the terminal 3. The terminal 3 has a weld region 5 being welded to the side face of the rail, and in a direction substantially perpendicular to the side face of the rail, the weld region 5, the terminal 3, the termination 4 and the conductor 2 have a predetermined relation in at least one of the position, mutual shape, lamination relation and lamination structure.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a long welded rail which is improved in fatigue strength at a weld zone compared with a conventional long welded rail.
SOLUTION: According to the method of manufacturing the long welded rail, at least two rails are flush-butt-welded or gas-pressure-welded together, and the most portion of a bead formed at the weld zone is punched by a cutting tool having a shape following an external periphery of the rail, followed by carrying out ultrasonic peening on a toe of weld of the bead, located at least on a downstream side in a punching direction. Thus a fatigue limit that is obtained after repeated loading of two million times, is improved by 30 MPa compared with a product on which the ultrasonic peening is not carried out.
