PURPOSE: Toner is provided to improve the dispersibility of the azo pigment in the binder resin and to have good tint by including a compound having a specific bis-azo framework unit as a pigment dispersant. CONSTITUTION: Toner comprises a binder resin, a compound having the bis-azo framework unit and a polymer resin unit, and toner base particles containing the azo pigment as a coloring agent. The bis-azo framework unit is represented by Chemical formula 1 or 2. The polymer resin unit has at least one among the partial structure represented by Chemical formula 3 and the partial structure represented by Chemical formula 4. In Chemical formula 1 and 2, R1 to R4 represent hydrogen or halogen. R5 and R6 represent alkyl with 1-6 carbons, or phenyl. R7 to R11 represent hydrogen, COOR12 or CONR13R14. At least one among R7 to R11 are COOR12 or CONR13R14. R12 to R14 represent hydrogen or alkyl with 1-3 carbons. L1 represent a divalent connecting group. In Chemical formula 3, R15 represents hydrogen or alkyl. In Chemical formula 4, R16 represents hydrogen or alkyl. R17 represents hydrogen, and alkyl or aralkyl.

PURPOSE: Toner is provided to obtain enough image density by using conventional pigment addition concentration, and to reduce the toner load on a recording medium. CONSTITUTION: Toner contains a binding resin, a pigment, and toner particles containing an azo compound, and is produced by the one of the following production methods; producing the toner by dispersing a polymerizable monomer composition containing a polymerizable monomer, the pigment, and the azo compound in an aqueous medium, and polymerizing the polymerizable monomer; producing the toner by dispersing or dissolving a toner composition containing the binding resin, the pigment, and the azo compound in an organic solvent, dispersing the obtained mixed solution in the aqueous medium, and removing the organic solvent from the obtained particles. The azo compound contains a polymer component, and parts other than the polymer component are denoted by chemical formula 1.

CONSTITUTION: Black toner contains a compound having a structure in which a polymer unit with a monomer unit denoted by chemical formula 2 is combined to a structure denoted by chemical formula 1, and toner particles containing carbon black. In the chemical formula 1, more than one of R_2, R_3, Ar_1, and Ar_2 are combined to the polymer unit using a carboxylic acid ester bond or a carboxylic acid amino bond. The toner particles is obtained by a suspension polymerization method or a suspension assembly method.
