    Abstract: PURPOSE: Provided is an epoxy resin composition for a fire-retardant copper foil-laminated plate used for a PCB(printed circuit board), which has a low dielectric constant and high heat-resistance. CONSTITUTION: The epoxy resin composition contains: 100pts.wt. of a brominated epoxy resin containing at least two epoxy functional groups, which is at least one selected from the group consisting of a bisphenol A type epoxy resin, a bisphenol F type epoxy resin, a bisphenol S type epoxy resin, a three-functional epoxy resin, a four-functional epoxy resin, and a novolac epoxy resin; 50-200pts.wt. of a multi-functional epoxy resin containing at least three epoxy functional groups(represented by formula 1), which is at least one selected from the group consisting of a three-functional epoxy resin, a four-functional epoxy resin, and a novolac epoxy resin; 1-10 equivalent%(based on the epoxy equivalent) of an imidazole-based curing catalyst; 0.1-10 mol-equivalent(based on the mol-equivalent of the imidazole-based curing catalyst) of a curing retarder.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: Provided are an epoxy resin composition capable of providing an insulator having low dielectric constant and excellent thermal property, and a copper foil laminate using the composition. CONSTITUTION: The epoxy resin composition comprises (a) brominated bisphenol A type of bifunctional epoxy resin, (b) multifunctional epoxy resin, (c) acid anhydride based hardener, and (d) imidazole-based hardening catalyst. The bifunctional epoxy resin comprises 15-55 wt% of bromine. The multifunctional epoxy resin is selected from the epoxy resin group consisting of trifunctional epoxy, 4-functional epoxy and novolac type. The amount of the multifunctional epoxy resin is 5-100 parts by weight with respect to 100 parts by weight of the bifunctional epoxy resin.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: Tetrabromobisphenol-A epoxy resin is reacted with denatured bisphenol-A epoxy resin to give denatured brominated epoxy, which has improved thermal resistance and electrical characteristics. CONSTITUTION: Bisphenol-A epoxy resin is reacted with styrene maleic anhydride at 140-160°C for 1-3 hr to give new denatured bisphenol-A epoxy resin, which is reacted with tetrabromobisphenol-A at 140-160°C for 2-3 hr in presence of catalyst of base to give new brominated epoxy resin, which has good adhesive strength, chemical resistance and thermal resistance. The epoxy resin has high glass transition temperature and low dielectric constant. Conventional epoxy resin shows glass transition temperature of 134-137°C while the epoxy resin shows glass transition temperature of 145-147°C.
