Abstract:
An inductive output tube includes a capacitative tuner in the form of a plunger which is moveable inside the integral output cavity of the inductive output tube so as to vary the capacitance between an input and output drift tube and hence the resonant frequency of the output stage. The tuning plunger is moveable by protruding through a wall of the vacuum envelope of the output cavity, so as to allow the capacitance to be changed by operation of the tuning plunger by manual or automatic means from outside the cavity.
Abstract:
An electron beam tube (17) having a longitudinal axis comprises a first component, such as a ceramic wall (5) and a second component such as a drift tube assembly having a mounting plate (3). The tube further comprises means, such as member (18), arranged to allow relative sliding movement of the first component relative to the second component in a radial direction. The invention helps to alleviate mechanical stresses caused by differential thermal expansion of the components.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a combination comprising an amount of mirtazapine, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or solvate thereof, and an amount of gepirone, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or solvate thereof, optionally in association with one or more pharmaceutically acceptable carriers, whereby the amount of gepirone and the amount of mirtazapine are such that the effect of the composition is more favourable than the added effects of the amounts of each drug separately. This combination can be used in the treatment of depression and related disorders, whereby the invention also provides for a new method of treatment of depression and related disorders.
Abstract:
The compound mirtazapine is found to be effective in treating sleep apneas. Optionally, mirtazapine is combined with an SSRI such as fluoxetin.
Abstract:
A local-neighborhood Laplacian Eigenmap (LNLE) algorithm is provided for methods and systems for semi-supervised learning on manifolds of data points in a high-dimensional space. In one embodiment, an LNLE based method includes building an adjacency graph over a dataset of labelled and unlabelled points. The adjacency graph is then used for finding a set of local neighbors with respect to an unlabelled data point to be classified. An eigen decomposition of the local subgraph provides a smooth function over the subgraph. The smooth function can be evaluated and based on the function evaluation the unclassified data point can be labelled. In one embodiment, a transductive inference (TI) algorithmic approach is provided. In another embodiment, a semi-supervised inductive inference (SSII) algorithmic approach is provided for classification of subsequent data points. A confidence determination can be provided based on a number of labeled data points within the local neighborhood. Experimental results comparing LNLE and simple LE approaches are presented.
Abstract:
An electron beam tube device has a magnetic frame with the top part being pivotable so as to pivot from a closed position in which the top part, including an electromagnetic coil covers the electron beam tube to an open position in which the electron beam tube is uncovered. This allows electron beam tubes with either large parts or integral parts such as output feeders to be removed from the magnetic frame without complete removal of the top plate.
Abstract:
The invention relates to the use of thiol proteases having Cathepsin L type activity in the formulation of vaccines for combating helminth parasites. Preferably the protease is derived from a fluke such as Fasciola hepatica.
Abstract:
An independent stretching device comprises a back brace configured to pass across and brace against a user's back. A first connector is secured to a first end of the lower back brace, and is threaded through a first pulley. A second connector is secured to a second end of the lower back brace on an opposite side of the user to the first end of the back brace, the second connector being threaded through a second pulley. A foot stirrup is provided for receiving a foot of the user, and has a first end connected to the first pulley and a second end connected to the second pulley. Tension applied to respective distal ends of the first and second connectors distal from the back brace creates tension which urges the foot stirrup and the back brace toward each other.
