Abstract: Managing prefix lists at edge devices can include detecting, at an edge device, a traffic flow that can include a packet that specifies a destination address. The edge device can measure a bandwidth associated with the traffic flow, identify a flow bandwidth threshold defined for the edge device, and determine if the bandwidth associated with the traffic flow satisfies the flow bandwidth threshold. If a determination is made that the bandwidth associated with the traffic flow satisfies the flow bandwidth threshold, the edge device can include the destination address in a prefix list stored at the edge device. If a determination is made that the bandwidth associated with the traffic flow does not satisfy the flow bandwidth threshold, the edge device can omit the destination address from the prefix list stored at the edge device.

Abstract: Methods, computer-readable media, and devices for instantiating a service provider application on a customer premises-based device are disclosed. For example, a processing system of a telecommunication service provider network having at least one processor may establish a first tunnel between the processing system and a virtual machine monitor of a customer premises-based device and send a first instruction to the virtual machine monitor via the first tunnel to instantiate a first service provider application on the customer premises-based device. The processing system may further establish a second tunnel between the processing system and the first service provider application and send a second instruction to the first service provider application via the second tunnel to configure the first service provider application to operate in a service function chain.

Abstract: Architectures and techniques are presented that can leverage network equipment (e.g., broadband provider equipment, cellular provider equipment) in order to provide enhanced guidance to a target location. This enhanced guidance can supplement existing mapping or navigation equipment. Such can be advantageous for public safety answering point entities and first responder entities as well as, potentially, for service technicians or delivery. When an entity (e.g., first responder) is dispatched to a particular location, an associated residential gateway (RG) or other device can be identified, and an associated SSID determined. This SSID can be provided to the entity seeking that particular location so that SSID scans can operate similar to a transponder or homing beacon. The SSID might also be configured specially for this purpose. Additionally, the state of a device attached to the RG can be altered to further aid in locating, such as blinking porch lights or audible indicia.

Abstract: A processing system may obtain a first sampled flow record for a first flow in a network, comprising information regarding selected packets of the first flow, derive, from the first sampled flow record, a data volume and a duration of the first flow, and determine a first flow metric for the first flow that is calculated from the data volume and the duration, where the first flow metric is one of a plurality of flow metrics for a plurality of flows, and where the plurality of flow metrics is determined from the plurality of sampled flow records associated with the plurality of flows. The processing system may then classify the first flow into one of at least two classes, based upon the first flow metric and at least a first flow metric threshold.
