Abstract: Intraoral scanning systems configured to perform computer-implemented methods for identifying dental features. The methods may include engaging a trained machine learning network to identify one or more dental features in one or more regions of a patient's dentition. Each of the dental features may be present in at least one of multiple records. Each of the records may include multiple images of the patient's dentition and may be taken with a different imaging modality. The confidence score may be determined or adjusted using a 3D model of the patient's dentition. The confidence score may be determined or adjusted based on the region of the patient's dentition within each record. The methods may include displaying an indicator of each dental feature that has a confidence score that is above a threshold on the 3D model of the patient's dentition, and modifying the display as a user adjusts the threshold.

Abstract: An intraoral scanning system includes an intraoral scanner and a computing device. The computing device receive a plurality of intraoral scans from the intraoral scanner during an intraoral scanning session; registers the plurality of intraoral scans together based on overlapping features of the plurality of intraoral scans; generates a first three-dimensional (3D) surface based on the plurality of intraoral scans; receives one or more additional intraoral scans; determines that the one or more additional intraoral scans fail to satisfy one or more registration criteria for registering to at least one of the plurality of intraoral scans or the first 3D surface; and generates a second 3D surface based on the one or more additional intraoral scans.

Abstract: A method is provided, including using at least one computer processor, for receiving, during intraoral scanning of an intraoral three-dimensional (3D) surface by an intraoral scanner, a plurality of intraoral scans of the intraoral 3D surface generated by the intraoral scanner, each intraoral scan including an image of a distribution of discrete unconnected spots of light projected on the intraoral 3D surface, registering the plurality of intraoral scans to each other during the intraoral scanning to update a 3D model of the intraoral 3D surface at a rate of 3-100 times per second, and outputting a view of the 3D model of the intraoral 3D surface to a display. Other applications are also described.
