摘要:
An approach to power economization in a spoke and hub environment is presented. When a hub receives a data set from a first spoke, the hub writes the data set to a first partition that is associated with the first spoke. After the data transfer is complete, the hub powers down the first partition. If the first spoke sends additional data transfers to the hub while the first partition is powered down, the hub stores the additional data transfers in a second partition. When the first partition is powered up again, the hub moves the data intended for the first partition and that was stored in the second partition. The data is moved from the second partition to the first partition. The hub may monitor the size of the addition data transfers. If the data transfer is large, the hub may power up the first partition, write the data in the first partition, and move to the first partition any data that was intended for the first partition but written to the second partition while the first partition was powered down.

This patent describes a method for the Sellers of Real Estate to annotate, personalize and highlight the surroundings of their property-for-sale using graphical icons on a digital map. Potential buyers can view surroundings of Real Estate properties that are so annotated. This method describes a web-based, secure and personalized conduit that is established between the seller and all potential buyers. Also described is the method in which sellers can customize the process of annotating their property so that every subsequent annotation takes less time than the last.

An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for autonomically creating a target volume in conjunction with a fastcopy data operation. The apparatus includes a selection module, a creation module, and a write module. The selection module selects a source volume from a source pool. The creation module creates a target volume from a predefined target storage space. The target volume corresponds to the source volume. The write module writes fastcopy data from the source volume to the target volume. The apparatus, system, and method minimize user intervention and facilitate on-demand creation of target volumes from the target storage space.

A method and system are provided for handling within a database system data items that are associated with data types that are not supported by the database language used to the database system. The data types are registered with the database system by storing, in the database, metadata that indicates the structure, physical layout, and constraints that apply to the data types. The database system uses the structure and physical layout information to access individual elements of data items. The database system validates data items using the constraint information, which includes constraints that dictate what values are valid for certain elements based on what values are supplied for other elements. Data items associated with many different data types may be stored in the same table. Applications can access the data items through a transformation view that transforms the data items from their native format to a format expected by the applications.

A method and apparatus are provided for allowing a resource manager to be more tightly integrated with foreign transaction managers with which it interacts through the use of an extensible framework of transaction and resource manager events. The tighter integration made possible by a framework in which personality modules are registered with resource managers. Each personality module corresponds to a particular foreign transaction protocol. Each personality module includes a mapping of key resource and transaction events to actions, where the action mapped to a particular event is the action required by the protocol in response to the event. When an event occurs within the resource manager, the resource manager performs the action mapped to the particular event by the appropriate personality module. For an event associated with a particular transaction, the transaction type associated with the transaction is used to select the appropriate personality manager, and the mapping within the personality manager is used to determine the appropriate action to perform. For an event associated with the resource manager, the corresponding actions in all of the registered personality modules are performed.
