The management message can be transmitted in one or more MAC PDUs and can be divided into one or more fragments.     摘要: The present invention provides a method and system for transmitting and receiving Fragmentable Data Units (FDUs) in a wireless communication environment. In one embodiment, a method of transmitting FDUs in a wireless communication environment includes fragmenting a FDU into a fixed number of fragments by a transmitting device. The method further includes packing the fragments of said FDU in payloads of Medium Access Control (MAC) Protocol Data Units (PDUs). Additionally, the method includes encoding control information of each fragment of said FDU in a fragmentation control (FC) field and a sequence number field of the respective MAC PDU. Moreover, the method includes transmitting the MAC PDUs containing the fragments of said FDU and control information associated with the fragments to a receiving device.

The method further includes determining whether unfragmented MAC SDU(s) in the MAC SDUs satisfy pre-defined criteria. If the unfragmented MAC SDU(s) satisfy the predefined criteria, the method includes generating MAC PDU(s) from the unfragmented MAC SDU(s), where each MAC PDU includes multiple unfragmented MAC SDUs.     摘要: A method and device for performing an Automatic Repeat Request (ARQ) procedure in a wireless communication environment are provided. An initiation of the ARQ reset procedure is triggered by one of a transmitting device and a receiving device. A sequence number corresponding to a start of an ARQ window is determined. The sequence number is a sequence number of a first ARQ block to be transmitted by the transmitting device upon completion of the ARQ reset procedure. An ARQ reset message indicating the determined sequence number is transmitted to the receiving device. Accordingly, first and second pointer values of the ARQ window at the receiving device is set to the sequence number in the ARQ reset message. An ARQ reset acknowledgement message is sent to the transmitting device. Moreover, first and second pointer values of the ARQ window at the transmitting device is set to the determined sequence number.

    摘要: The present invention provides a method and system for dynamically changing upper bound on size of data packets. In one embodiment, a transmitting device determines a need to change existing negotiated maximum size for an active connection when size of data packets for an application is switched, a new application is mapped to the active connection or Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) of broadband wireless network is changed. Then, the transmitting device sends a request message indicating a new negotiated maximum size for changing the existing negotiated maximum size to the receiving device. The receiving device sends a response message confirming change to the new negotiated maximum size to the transmitting device. Accordingly, the transmitting device and the receiving device uses the new negotiated maximum size for building data packets and decoding the received data packets respectively based on a predefined parameter (e.g., sequence number/action time) indicated in the request/response message.
