Abstract:
A woven fabric includes light transmissive fibers woven into the fabric to provide a visual display. The fabric may be used as a tether to releasably connect a portable electronic device to a user. The light transmissive fibers may transmit light to convey information to the user. The fabric may also be used as part of the housing of an electronic device.
Abstract:
A handheld computing device is disclosed. The handheld computing device includes a seamless housing formed from an extruded metal tube. The extruded tube includes open ends and internal rails which serve as a guide for slidably assembling an operational assembly through the open ends of the extruded tube, a reference surface for positioning the operational assembly relative to an access opening in the seamless housing, and a support structure for supporting the operational assembly during use.

Abstract:
A minimum Z height handheld electronic device and methods of assembly is described. The electronic device includes a single seamless housing having a front opening and a cover disposed within the front opening and attached to the seamless housing without a bezel.
Abstract:
An electronic device having an assembly is disclosed. The assembly is designed to regulate fluid flow into the electronic device. The assembly may include a membrane having air-permeable and liquid-resistant properties. In other to protect the membrane, the assembly includes a support member and a compressible membrane. Also, the assembly may further include a first housing member and a second housing member that combine to surround the membrane. Each feature of the assembly may include an opening to allow air to pass the assembly. When disposed in an opening of the electronic device, the assembly allows the device to receive air that is used by an operational component in the electronic device. The assembly protects the operational component from liquid ingress while allowing the operational component to communicate with the environment external to the device. The operation component may include a microphone, an audio speaker, or a pressure sensor.
Abstract:
A very small form factor consumer electronic product includes at least a single piece housing having an integral front and side walls that cooperate to form a cavity in cooperation with a front opening where an edge of the side walls define a rear opening and at least some of the edges have flanges. The consumer electronic product also includes an user input assembly having a size and shape in accordance with the front opening and a clip assembly having a size and shape in accordance with the rear opening and having an external user actionable clip, a plurality of internal hooking features, and a plurality of internal latching features. The clip assembly is secured by engaging at least some of the hooking features and the flanges on the edges of the housing and engaging the latching features and corresponding attachment features on the internal support plate.
