Abstract:
A headset comprising a communications device, a sensor coupled to the communications device and operative to detect the proximity of a user's body to the sensor, a detachable ear cushion coupled to the communications device; and wherein the detachable ear cushion comprises a conductive ear cushion flange to be interposed between the sensor and the user's body for extending the detection range of the sensor.
Abstract:
A differentiated services device is described. In one embodiment, the differentiated services device includes: a traffic metering unit to indicate whether an information element in a flow conforms to a peak rate and a committed rate; a storage congestion metering unit to determine whether the information element should be accepted or discarded; and a marking unit to mark the information element with one of a plurality of mark values, wherein the marking unit is coupled to the traffic metering unit and the storage congestion metering unit. Also, a method of marking an information element in a flow is described. In one embodiment, the method includes: indicating whether the information element in the flow conforms to a peak rate and a committed rate; determining whether the information element should be accepted or discarded; and marking the information element with one of a plurality of mark values.
Abstract:
A tape measure having a case, in which is a spooled concave measuring blade, the blade being extendable from the case via an opening, the tape measure having a spring which acts to urge the blade back into its spooled configuration, and an end piece at the free end of the measuring blade, wherein the tape measure further comprises at least one aperture in the casing to allow direct access to the spooled blade.
Abstract:
A system for adjusting an audio setting for a headset, comprises a communications device, a detachable headband containing a detectable element that can be coupled to the communications device, a sensor coupled to the communications device configured to determine whether the headband is coupled to the communications device and a processor configured to adjust the audio setting for the headset to a headband mode when the headband is coupled to the communications device. The processor may also adjust the audio setting of the headset to a non-headband mode based on the sensor detecting the headband being disconnected from the communications device.
Abstract:
A tape measure has a rotatably mounted winding drum, a measuring tape attached the drum so as to be coilable thereon, and two winding handles acting respectively on each side of the drum. The winding handles are for coiling the tape onto the drum, and one or both of them may be retractable.
Abstract:
A measuring tape end piece (10) is disclosed having a support portion (28) and a grip portion (32). The grip portion is moulded onto the support portion. The support portion provides a keying interface on which the support portion is moulded. The keying interface includes at least one concave formation such as a hole or channel to allow the grip portion to be firmly secured to the support portion.
Abstract:
A progressive die assembly and a method for manufacturing lamina stacks from a plurality of separate strips of stock material. The die assembly includes a plurality of feed pathways for the material strips, each feed pathway having an associated punch set. Each punch set includes one or more punches for stamping lamina features in the strip, as well as at least one blanking punch for blanking individual laminas from the strips. The die assembly additionally includes a choke assembly which is adapted to receive laminas which are blanked from each of the material strips by the blanking punches.
Abstract:
A tape measure is disclosed which has a spooled measuring blade mounted via a rotatable connection within a casing (100). The tape measure has impact-protection components. These components may be resilient means (46, 60, 62, 82, 108) arranged between the spooled blade and the case, such as at the rotatable connection. Further impact-protection components are resilient pads (112, 114) which are moulded into impact-vulnerable locations on the outer surface of the case.
Abstract:
A suspension-type packaging arrangement for a product includes an upper engagement section having an opening to receive a hook or the like, a lower product support section, and an intermediate display section located between the upper engagement section and the lower product support section. The product is secured to the product support section, and is exposed to allow the user to handle the product so as to evaluate and test the product prior to purchase. The upper engagement section and the lower product support section are configured so that the center of gravity of the product is generally in line with the location at which the hook engages the upper engagement section, so that the packaging arrangement and the product hang in a generally vertical orientation for display. The intermediate display section is defined by an outwardly facing wall, and may be configured to releasably secure a display card containing product information that is visible to the potential purchaser. In a preferred form, the wall defining the intermediate section is formed of a translucent material, so as to enable the user to view information carried on both the front and the back surfaces of the display card.
