Abstract: A dome for a personal audio device. The dome forms a first flexible circumferential member and comprising a guiding structure extending in a longitudinal direction and forming an interface for guiding sound from or to the personal audio device. The guiding structure comprises a least one sound opening configured for passage of sound from or to the personal audio device in a direction transverse to the longitudinal direction of the guiding structure. Abstract: The various embodiments set forth a headphone apparatus that includes a first earcup, a sensor included in the first earcup, and a controller. The first earcup is coupled to a headband, and includes a loudspeaker system and a thermal control subsystem. The controller is configured to detect an output generated by the sensor, and, based on the output, transmit a signal to the thermal control subsystem included in the first earcup to modify a temperature associated with at least the first earcup.

Abstract: Headsets with non-occluding earbuds are disclosed. The earbud includes a non-occluding housing having a directional sound port offset with respect to a center axis of the earbud. The housing can have an asymmetric shape amenable to in-the-ear retention. Additionally, the housing can have a seamless or nearly seamless construction even though two or more parts are joined together to form the housing. Front and back volumes can exist for a driver of the earbud, and embodiments of this invention use mid-mold and rear-mold structures to achieve desired performance from the earbud. For example, the mid-mold structure can be used to tune the front volume while the rear-mold structure can be used to tune the back volume. Apertures may also be included in the housing to further improve the performance of the earbud.

Abstract: A headphone includes an electro-acoustic transducer dividing an enclosed volume into a front volume and a rear volume, a first port in the housing coupling the front volume to an ear canal of a user, a second port in the housing coupling the front volume to space outside the ear, a third port in the housing coupling the rear volume to space outside the ear, and an ear tip configured to surround the first port and including a flap to seal the ear canal from space outside the ear. The second port has a diameter and a length that provide an acoustic mass with an acoustic impedance with a high reactive component and a low resistive component, reducing the occlusion effect that otherwise results from sealing the ear.
