    Abstract: A processor receives data associated with a device. On the basis of the data associated with the device, the processor modulates a light from the artificial light source at a rate imperceptible to a human eye while detectable by a light sensor device. The modulated light is representative of the data associated with the device. The modulated light is detected, demodulated, and decoded by the light sensor device to retrieve the data associated with the device. Further, the data associated with the device is presented by the light sensor device to a user. In addition, the light sensor device is configured to receive input data from the user and communicate the input data to the processor via a wireless link. The processor is configured to receive the input data from the light sensor device and effect a change in a characteristic of the device based on the received input data.

    Abstract: An acoustic occupancy sensor includes and acoustic transmitter, acoustic receiver, variable bandpass filter and a controller. The acoustic transmitter transmits acoustic signals into a defined region and the acoustic receiver receives acoustic signals from the defined region. The received acoustic signal is converted to an electrical signal. A pre-amplifier amplifies the electrical signal and the electrical signal is digitized. The digitized electrical signal is demodulated by a demodulator to remove the carrier signal. The digitized electrical signal is filtered by a bandpass filter that sweeps up along a range of frequencies and down along a range of frequencies. The amplitudes of the filtered signals are averaged and analyzed to determine the presence or absence of an occupant within the defined region.

    Abstract: An occupancy sensor includes an acoustic transmitter and an acoustic receiver each operably coupled to a controller. The sensor further includes a communication interface operably coupled to the controller and capable of transmitting and receiving communication signals to and from a communication network through the communication interface.     Abstract: A time-delayed, variable light intensity control is configured to operate in a conventional mode in which the illumination level of incandescent lights is adjusted in accordance with rotation of the dimmer knob and in automatic dimming modes in which the illumination level is further dimmed over a predetermined period of time, to either a low level of illumination suitable for use as a night light, or until extinguished. The light intensity control controls the illumination levels as well as the time delay during automatic dimming by varying the phase angle at which a power triac is triggered. The phase angle is controlled by the timing of the generation of a first pulse in accordance with the rotation of the dimmer knob and the generation of a fixed period pulse which occurs one half cycle later. The control system is useful for other AC control systems.
