    Abstract: A piston for a premixed spark-ignited or premixed dual fuel internal combustion engine is disclosed. The piston may be configured to reciprocate along a longitudinal axis of a combustion chamber defined by a cylinder of the engine. The piston may comprise a piston head, a top annular groove configured to receive a top annular ring, and a skirt having a pin bore extending along a pin bore axis that is configured to receive a wrist pin for connecting the piston to a connecting rod. The piston may further comprise a top land formed in the piston head that is chamfered in a direction perpendicular to the pin bore axis such that the top land does not contact an inner wall of the cylinder when the piston rocks about the pin bore axis. The top land may be non-chamfered in a direction parallel to the pin bore axis.

    Abstract: Apparatus and methods for injecting gaseous fuel into a compression ignition engine are disclosed. A gaseous fuel injector includes a pintle valve and an intensifier. The pintle valve includes a pintle body defining a pintle bore therethrough, a first sealing surface disposed on a distal end of the pintle body, and a pintle disposed within the pintle bore. The pintle includes a shaft, a radially flared portion, and a second sealing surface disposed on a proximal face of the radially flared portion, such that the first sealing surface faces the second sealing surface. The intensifier includes an intensifier body defining a fuel pump chamber therein, the fuel pump chamber being fluidly coupled to a gaseous fuel supply and the pintle bore, a plunger having a distal end disposed in the fuel pump chamber, and an intensifier piston disposed on a proximal end of the plunger.

    Abstract: A cryogenic fluid containment system is disclosed. The system can store a fluid such as hydrogen at a cryogenic temperature and pressure. As the fluid naturally warms, the fluid can be directed to a portion of a liquefaction system that is configured to perform a cooling technique on the fluid. The cooling techniques may be Joule-Thomson cooling techniques. The liquefaction system may be equipped to perform both non-Joule-Thomson cooling techniques and Joule-Thomson cooling techniques. The system is configured to direct fluid to an appropriate portion of the liquefaction system, which may be based at least in part upon a Joule-Thomson coefficient of the fluid.
