    摘要: The formation of predominantly primary aliphatic perchlorates and trifluoethanesulfonates by reacting the corresponding silver salt with primary aliphatic halides in benzene at a temperature from about 5.degree. C. to about 50.degree. C. Primary aliphatic perchlorates and trifluoromethanesulfonates are excellent alkylating agents for amines, alcohols, and nitroalcohols.

    摘要: A highly selective method is disclosed for cleaving carboranyl carbon-silicon bonds which comprises contacting either silylated monomeric carboranes or polymers thereof with a nucleophilic cleavage agent and, if desired, in the presence of a protic reagent and recovering the carborane cage intact. This technique is employed in a method for producing the useful meta-carborane in bulk which includes the steps of isomerizing a silylated derivative of ortho-carborane using known techniques to produce the corresponding meta-carborane derivative and then cleaving the carboranyl carbon-silicon bond to form meta-carborane.

    摘要: The tetradecahydroundecaborate(-1) anion is synthesized from a metal borohydride by heating a suspension of the borohydride ion in a solvent, such as diglyme, with agitation at a temperature of from 85.degree. C. to about 135.degree. C. and adding an alkyl halide. The B.sub.11 H.sub.14.sup.- anion obtained is useful in the synthesis of decaborane, an intermediate in formation a carborane-based polymers.

    摘要: Derivatives of perbromic acid of the formula: XBrO.sub.4 wherein X is Ag, H.sub.3).sub.2 CH, or (CH.sub.3).sub.2 C.sub.2 H.sub.3 prepared by a synthesis of silver perbromate through the reaction of dilute aqueous perbromic acid with silver oxide at a temperature from 0.degree. to 50.degree. C, followed by a removal of water and by a synthesis of isopropyl or isobutyl perbromate through the reaction of anhydrous silver perbromate suspended in a fluid selected from the class consisting of carbon tetrachloride, cyclohexane, and 1,1,2-trichlorotrifluoroethane with an alkyl bromide at a temperature from -25.degree. to 0.degree. C. Isopropyl and isobutyl perbromates are useful as oxidizing agents for alcohols.
