    Abstract: A communication system for statically allocating physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) resources on a PUCCH. The communication system includes a base station configured to exchange radio frequency (RF) signals with a plurality of user equipment terminals (UEs). The base station is also configured to identify two PUCCH resources, each sharing the same orthogonal code sequence and located in different resource block of adjacent slots of a subframe. The base station is also configured to statically allocate the two PUCCH resources to two of the UEs, where both UEs are legacy UEs or Category-M1 (Cat-M1) UEs.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for dynamic base station functional split configuration management are provided. In one embodiment, a system for base station functional split management for uplink fronthaul traffic comprises: a baseband controller coupled to a plurality of radio units via a fronthaul network, wherein the plurality of radio units comprise a signal zone from which uplink signals are combined by the base station: a split controller configured to dynamically select and control a functional split of a respective uplink receive chain between the baseband controller and each of the plurality of radio units: wherein the functional split defines a demarcation point on the receive chain prior to which processing operations are executed by a radio unit and after which processing operations are executed by the baseband controller: wherein the split controller selects between a plurality of functional split options to dynamically control the functional split and the demarcation point.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for beamforming of broadcast and synchronization channels are provided. In one example, a system includes a BBU, RU(s) communicatively coupled to the BBU, and antennas communicatively coupled to the RU(s). Each RU is communicatively coupled to a respective subset of antennas. The BBU, RU(s), and antennas implement a base station for wirelessly communicating with UEs. The base station is configured to map a synchronization signal to the antennas during a sequence of time periods, transmit the synchronization signal via each respective subset of antennas with a first antenna beam pattern during a first time period of the sequence of time periods, and transmit the synchronization signal via each respective subset of the antennas with a second antenna beam pattern during a second time period of the sequence of time periods. The first antenna beam pattern is different than the second antenna beam pattern.
