Abstract: A vehicle radar apparatus detects a position and a velocity of a target object. The radar apparatus selects, as a relay reflection target object, a moving body capable of relaying transmission and reception of the radar wave to and from another target object, from target objects detected. The radar apparatus sets a multipath ghost condition indicating the position and the velocity of the target object erroneously detected as a result of a stationary object to which the radar wave is relayed by the relay reflection target object, based on the position and the velocity of the relay reflection target object and the velocity of an own vehicle. The radar apparatus extracts a target object that meets the multipath ghost condition from the detected target objects, determines that the extracted target object is a multipath ghost, and restricts output of a detection result from the radar apparatus to an external apparatus.

Abstract: A radar system of one aspect of the present disclosure includes a plurality of transmitting antennas, a plurality of receiving antennas, an azimuth estimation unit, a restoration unit (S30), an error calculation unit, and a false azimuth determination unit. The azimuth estimation unit estimates an azimuth of a target based on a first received signal received by a virtual array. The restoration unit calculates a second received signal from an estimated power of the first received signal which corresponds to a signal restored from the first received signal, assuming that the transmitting azimuth is the same as an arrival azimuth. The false azimuth determination unit determines that the estimated azimuth is a false azimuth when the errors between the first received signal and the second received signal are larger than a determination threshold.

Abstract: In a radar apparatus, a processing unit calculates a wavenumber of incoming waves reflected from a target object for each of detected target objects. The processing unit calculates, as a wavenumber evaluation value, a proportion of target objects of which the calculated wavenumber is plural among the all of the detected target objects. The processing unit calculates, as a false azimuth evaluation value, a proportion of target objects including a second incoming wave of which an azimuth difference relative to an azimuth of a first incoming wave of which power of the incoming wave is maximum power is a specific azimuth difference occurring due to periodic signal errors being superimposed on the virtual array, among the target objects of which the calculated wavenumber is plural. The processing unit determines contamination of the radome based on the wavenumber evaluation value and the false azimuth evaluation value.

Abstract: A processing unit analyzes a reception signal to calculate, for every plurality of receiving antennas, a velocity spectrum in which a frequency is associated with a velocity at which the phase of the reception signal is changed at every cycle period. The processing unit extracts, as a group of identical object peaks, peaks that are generated on a velocity spectrum due to an identical object and that are identical in number to transmitting antennas. The processing unit determines, for each of the plurality of peaks constituting the group of identical object peaks, whether there is power variation among a plurality of the receiving antennas. The processing unit calculates an orientation of the object except for virtual receiving antennas included in a plurality of virtual receiving antennas and formed by the transmitting antennas corresponding to the peaks determined to involve the power variation.
