Abstract:
Incandescent lamps connected in circuits to keep a maintenance current flowing through the lamp filament when the lamp is off to improve the ductile-brittle properties of the filament. Lamps are also disclosed which have an internal impedance element to be used in the circuits for producing the maintenance current.
Abstract:
A method for manufacturing an annealed tungsten filament wire for electric lamps with a reduced amount of impurities in which the filament wire is wound on a mandrel, either the wire or the mandrel is coated with a protective material, the wire is annealed at an elevated temperature, and the wire is removed from the mandrel.
Abstract:
A dual cathode structure for a fluorescent lamp comprising a pair of electron emissive cathodes which are connected with a common junction and mounted to have an included angle therebetween. An anode flag is connected to the common junction to collect electrons when the filaments are operating in the anode half cycle. The collected electrons pass through one or both of the cathodes to diffuse the hot spot on the electrode. The lamp operates with reduced wattage with no decrease of light output.
Abstract:
A mandrel and a method for manufacturing filament coils for electric lamps. The mandrel is coated with a material, such as copper, which does not alloy with the filament coil during annealing. The coil is wound on the coated mandrel and the mandrel is dissolved after the filament is annealed.
Abstract:
A fluorescent lamp having at least one groove therein which is rotated on a curved path around and along the longitudinal axis of the lamp and which varies in depth.
