Abstract: In a general aspect, an apparatus can include a base portion that is open on a first side, and a first lens and a second lens disposed within a second side of the base portion. The apparatus can also include a ledge disposed around at least a portion of an interior perimeter of the base portion, the ledge being configured to physically support an electronic device inserted from the first side of the base portion. The apparatus can further include a lid portion that is open on a first side and closed on a second side, and a hinge that couples the base portion with the lid portion. The base portion, the lid portion and the hinge can be configured such that the base portion and the lid portion are hingeably moveable, relative to one another, between an open position and a closed position.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method is described for configuring interaction zones for a virtual reality environment. The method may include defining a plurality of scenes, each scene including a plurality of selectable scene cuts and defining a first interaction zone and a second interaction zone. The method may also include automatically selecting a first scene cut to display the first scene, in response to detecting that a gaze direction, associated with a user accessing the virtual reality environment, is directed toward the first interaction zone. The method may also include automatically selecting a second scene cut to display the second scene, in response to detecting that the gaze direction, associated with the user accessing the virtual reality environment, is directed toward the second interaction zone. The first or second scenes may be triggered for display in a head mounted display device.

Abstract: A computer-implemented technique can include establishing, between a computing device and a mobile computing device, a short-range wireless communication link. In response to establishing the communication link, the computing device can provide a selectable option for a user to attach a media item to an electronic document accessed by the computing device. In response to a user selection of the selectable option, the computing device can transmit, to the mobile computing device via the communication link, a command, wherein receipt of the command causes the mobile computing device to initiate a media capture mode. The computing device can then receive, from the mobile computing device via the communication link, the captured media item and, in response to receiving the captured media item, the computing device can attach the captured media item to the electronic document.

Abstract: A headset for experiencing an augmented and/or a virtual reality environment may include a housing defining an interior cavity, with optical components received in the interior cavity of the housing. A front face may be rotatably coupled to a front portion of the housing to selectively enclose the interior of the housing. A computing device including a display may be received in a slot defined between the front portion of the housing and the front face. A face pad may be removably coupled to the housing, opposite the front face, so as to enclose the optical components in the housing. A user may view an augmented/virtual reality environment displayed on the display through the optical components received in the housing. An adjustable head strap assembly may adjustably position the headset on the head of the user.

Abstract: In an implementation, a virtual reality (VR) headset can include a plurality of structural components. Each structural component can be formed from a respective cardboard sheet. The plurality of structural components can include a plurality of flaps that define an opening for placement of the VR headset near or against a face of a user in a first configuration, an internal wall of the VR headset, a bottom wall of the VR headset, a lens frame assembly, a top wall of the VR headset and an enclosure flap hingeably coupled with the bottom wall of the VR headset. The enclosure flap can, in a first configuration, secure an electronic device in the VR headset against the internal wall. In a second configuration, the enclosure flap can enclose the plurality of flaps that define the opening between the internal wall and the enclosure flap.
