    Abstract: Systems and methods of capturing images are disclosed. For instance, a plurality of position signals associated with a mobile computing device can be received, the plurality of position signals can be obtained at least in part using one or more sensors implemented within the mobile computing device. A relative motion between the mobile computing device and a scattering point associated with a target can be determined. A plurality of return signals reflected from the scattering point can be received. Each return signal can correspond to a pulse transmitted by the mobile computing device. A target response associated with the scattering point can be determined based at least in part on the relative motion between the mobile computing device and the scattering point.

    Abstract: This document describes techniques and devices for non-line-of-sight radar-based gesture recognition. Through use of the techniques and devices described herein, users may control their devices through in-the-air gestures, even when those gestures are not within line-of-sight of their device's sensors. Thus, the techniques enable users to control their devices in many situations in which control is desired but conventional techniques do permit effective control, such as to turn the temperature down in a room when the user is obscured from a thermostat's gesture sensor, turn up the volume on a media player when the user is in a different room than the media player, or pause a television program when the user's gesture is obscured by a chair, couch, or other obstruction.

An interactive textile includes a grid of conductive thread woven into the interactive textile to form a capacitive touch sensor that is configured to detect touch-input. The interactive textile can process the touch-input to generate touch data that is useable to control various remote devices. For example, the interactive textiles may aid users in controlling volume on a stereo, pausing a movie playing on a television, or selecting a webpage on a desktop computer. Due to the flexibility of textiles, the interactive textile may be easily integrated within flexible objects, such as clothing, handbags, fabric casings, hats, and so forth. In one or more implementations, the interactive textiles may be integrated within various hard objects, such as by injection molding the interactive textile into a plastic cup, a hard casing of a smart phone, and so forth.

    Abstract: Gesture detection and interaction techniques are described. Object detection used to support the gestures may be accomplished in a variety of ways, such as by using radio waves as part of a radar technique. In a first example, the techniques are implemented such that one hand of a user sets a context for a gesture that is defined by another hand of the user. In another example, a gesture recognition mode is utilized. In yet another example, detection of distance is used such that the same motions may be used to different between operations performed. In a further example, split gestures are supported. In another instance, entry into a gesture recognition mode may be implemented through touch and then recognized through three-dimensional orientation and motion of that hand or another.

    Abstract: This document describes gestures for interactive textiles. A gesture manager is implemented at a computing device that is wirelessly coupled to the interactive textile. The gesture manager enables the user to create gestures and assign the gestures to various functionalities of the computing device to enable the user to initiate a functionality, at a subsequent time, by inputting a gesture assigned to the functionality into the interactive textile. The gesture manager may be configured to select a functionality based on both a gesture to the interactive textile and a context of the computing device. In one or more implementations, the interactive textile is coupled to one or more output devices (e.g., a light source, a speaker, or a display) that is integrated within the flexible object. The output device can be controlled to provide notifications and/or feedback to the user based on the user's interactions with the interactive textile.
